Morgan Jones miraculously helped bring about Padre’s downfall in a dramatic twist on Fear The Walking Dead’s midseason finale on AMC on Sunday.
The season eight episode titled All I See Is Red started with Morgan [Lennie James] lying on the train tracks in the rain with Madison Clark [Kim Dickens] standing over him.
‘What happened?’ asked Morgan who has suffered a lot of trauma during the zombie apocalypse, including the recent murder of his lover turned zombie Grace.
Madison said she heard about Grace and came to see if he was okay and found him surrounded by a sea of dead walkers he had killed. Morgan came to and told them to go to the shipyard to rescue Mo.
“Mo thinks she can empty those containers herself,” Morgan said. “She’ll die if we don’t help her.”

Madison pointed to the word “bright” all over the train car and asked Morgan what was wrong. Morgan then realized what had happened and told her they had to get away from him.
“I thought I was past this,” Morgan said. “It’s like I’m seeing red. It’s all I see and all I do is kill. Over and over until I was done.’
Madison said she wasn’t leaving him and would make sure he didn’t lose himself again. They went to the shipyard together, but it was completely free of walkers.
Morgan passed out again and when he woke up his hands were covered in blood. Madison, Daniel Salazar [Rubén Blades] and the other parents stood around him.
“I tried to stop you,” Madison said.
Madison told him that the prefects were at the shipyard, but no one was hurt.
Daniel said June Dorie [Jenna Elfman] Padre from the Repeater Station and that the dead overpowered them and the island had been evacuated.
“Shrike was loading containers onto a freighter,” Madison said. “She’s meeting the prefects on the other side of the swamp.”

Morgan radioed Mo and told her not to run. June radioed and said Mo was talking to the prefects with a houseboat.
shrike [Maya Eshet] met her brother Ben [Daniel Rashid] and asked him if she had found her father’s plan for the future, but Ben said no.
“There must be somewhere we didn’t look,” Shrike said.
Mo [Zoey Merchant] led the prefects through the forest to the houseboat. Shrike radioed and told them to find her dead father Krennick [ Michael B. Silver] who had hidden the information about the new settlement location in his binoculars that he wore around his neck.
“Mo, don’t listen to her,” Morgan said over the radio. “Go to the houseboat and protect yourself until I get there.”
Morgan passed out and woke up waist-deep in mud and radioed Mo to keep him from coming near. June told Dwight she couldn’t do more for Finch and that he should stay with him. Morgan made his way through the swamp, killing any walkers who got in his way. Suddenly, Mo yelled, “Daddy, can you see me?”
Mo stabbed him to shock him back to reality. Morgan woke up and Mo had handcuffed him in the houseboat.
Close call: Suddenly, Mo yelled, “Dad, can you see me?” while her father was in kill mode
“Why couldn’t you just let me go?” said Mo. “Now we are trapped in her by you as before.”
Morgan said they wouldn’t die, that he would break the cycle. Morgan fired a flare to show Madison their location. Madison ran towards him, but then Shrike pulled out a gun and told her to stop.
“The next one goes in your head,” Daniel said, appearing out of nowhere and pointing his gun at Shrike. “By the way, meet the parents of the kids you stole.”
Shrike and Ben stood there alone with their guns raised. Daniel told Madison to get in the boat and help Morgan. The walkers surrounded the sinking houseboat and Morgan demanded that Mo give him back his axe.
“I’d rather fight them than you,” Mo said.
Morgan gave Mo an oxygen tank and told her to swim under all the dead to escape. Morgan said the same thing happened seven years ago when he saw red and called Padre to protect her. Mo took the tank and swam away. Morgan told her that the walker she was looking for was right in front of him with binoculars.
“Those coordinates you want, I’m going to bury them at the bottom of this swamp,” Morgan said. “You’ll never find them.”
Swam Away: Morgan gave Mo an oxygen tank and told her to swim under all the dead to escape
Walking Hikers: Hikers roamed the forest as the survivors took refuge
Morgan then grabbed his axe, killing walkers and Madison found Morgan on the ground. Shrike arrived and demanded the coordinates. It was then that her father Kendrick, who was a hiker, came out of the swamp. Shrike was happy to see her father and fell to her knees.
“Shoot him,” Madison said.
Kendrick came out of the water and bit Shrike. Madison killed him and then opened his binoculars and found the paper inside.
“Dad, I’m sorry,” Shrike said, gasping for air.
The prefects and Ben had the parents surrounded and held them at gunpoint and Ben told them to shoot them, but the children refused. Daniel told them not to or they would regret it for the rest of their lives.
Morgan and Madison walked over and told them to wait. Morgan said they would just give them the coordinates and he wouldn’t get in the way. Morgan told them to board the ship and see where the coordinates led them.
“Just think about the people you leave behind, because those people will remember you,” Morgan said.
Mo walked over to Morgan and hugged him.
Big Ax: Morgan then grabbed his ax and killed walkers and Madison found Morgan on the ground
“I don’t just want to remember you, I want to be with you,” Mo said.
Shrike woke up and June had her tied to the train car. June had a walker head over her and Shrike begged her to give her a dose of the radiation treatment. June radioed Dwight and Sherry and asked them what she wanted to do.
“Don’t let her feel this,” Finch said.
“Do it quickly and painlessly,” Dwight said.
Ben walked into the train car and said he just wanted to see his sister.
“Either you do it or I do it,” June said.
Ben said he would. Ben hugged her crying.
Morgan and Mo got on a boat. Morgan first thanked Madison for helping him find himself and his daughter. Morgan said he had to make sure the people who ran away were safe. Madison stayed behind. Sherry [Christine Evangelista] and Dwight [Austin Amelio] buried Finch [Gavin Warren]. Dwight wondered if this was the end of them.
“Maybe we’re just not meant for each other,” Dwight said.
Morgan and Mo returned to the train car and buried Grace. Morgan then spoke to E. Eastman’s grave and said he realized life was precious. Morgan told Mo to find his friend who told him not to run.
Zombie Father: Shrike was happy to see her zombie father and dropped to her knees
Radio call: June radioed Dwight and Sherry and asked them what she wanted to do
Old Friend: Morgan told Mo to find his friend who told him not to run away
New mission: “This message is for Rick Grimes,” Morgan said into the walkie-talkie. ‘It’s Morgan Jones. Man, I’ve come looking for you whether you’re in Alexandria or not’

Madison also put out a message over the radio stating that Padre had fallen and that if anyone had lost a child, he should come to the following coordinates.
“We’ll do our best to reunite you with your children,” Madison said.
Fear the Walking Dead returns this fall with the conclusion of its final season.
