FDNY boss slams rank-and-file in apology to Trump-hating New York Attorney General after she was mercilessly booed at ceremony

FDNY Chief Laura Kavanagh criticized her department and apologized to New York’s attorney general after being booed by firefighters who support Donald Trump.

Attorney General Letitia James delivered a speech at a promotion ceremony for her department on March 7, only to be booed mercilessly by pro-Trump firefighters and other attendees.

According to reports, Kavanagh texted James the next day to apologize seen by The New York Post.

She wrote, “I should have called you last night, but I tried to find a way to say sorry without apologizing to men who don’t deserve such mercy.”

Kavanagh said she would like to be able to “fix” the behavior of the FDNY’s predominantly male workforce, but doesn’t know how.

James spoke at the March 7 ceremony but was quickly drowned out by cheers from the crowd.

The boos then turned into pro-Trump slogans.

Her appearance at the ceremony came just weeks after James’ office won a $454 million civil fraud judgment against Trump.

The next day, Kavanagh messaged James to apologize and express her support.

She told her, “I didn’t succeed. I’m sorry we didn’t stop them and I can’t fix them.’

She thanked James for teaching her that “bullying, threats and a lot of booing are part of ever making big changes.”

“So thanks for that. I care about you and will always do anything for you,” she added.

James thanked her for the message, but denied she had ever been booed before.

She said, “The guys who were there are new to the department and don’t know my history when it comes to FDNY.”

“We have work to do and I’m willing to put in the time. Besides – this is the first time I’ve been booed.”

James has promised to seize Trump’s assets if he doesn’t pay the huge settlement. This amounts to $87,502 more every day until he pays up.

FDNY spokesman Jim Long told the Post that the texts Kavanagh sent to James “reflect her deep disappointment and frustration with the actions of a few bad actors, who may or may not have been active FDNY employees.”
