The FBI has launched an investigation into whether maggots were intentionally placed in the breakfasts of delegates at the Democratic National Convention.
Police raided the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Chicago on Wednesday after reports of an insect attack.
Representative Tracy Boyd of Indiana said WGNTV: ‘They protected us of course and within minutes the tide had turned.’
She said her group had been notified that breakfast service would be temporarily delayed due to the incident.
“I would like to compliment the hotel staff and management,” she added.
“All Americans have the right to peacefully protest, but ugly attacks like this have no place in our democracy,” said Sam Barloga, spokesman for the Indiana Democratic Party.
“We thank the security team for their quick response,” he added.

It is not the first political incident involving maggots in recent weeks.
In late July, a pro-Palestine activist group shared sickening footage of what they called a protest against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The Israeli leader addressed Congress as a war rages in Gaza that has sparked worldwide protests against the Jewish state.
Hours before his speech, the Palestinian Youth Movement’s X account shared a video that it claimed showed Netanyahu’s table at the Watergate hotel in Washington DC covered in maggots and other bugs.
The group wrote: ‘Bon appétit!! MAGGOTS RELEASED ON THE WAR TABLE OF THE CRIMINAL ZIONIST!
‘Protesters in Palestine created chaos at the Watergate Hotel last night, preventing Netanyahu, Israel’s Mossad agents and the Secret Service from finding peace as they continued to terrorize our people.’
Jewish Insider claimed that several people on Netanyahu’s team were unaware of any protest involving maggots.
Jewish Insider reporter Lahav Harkov said: “I’ve spoken to several people in Netanyahu’s delegation who don’t know anything about this. So it could be that the Palestinian Youth Movement is lying or that security somehow managed to clean up the mess and turn off the fire alarms incredibly quickly.”
CNN reported that the Secret Service is investigating reports that protesters gained access to the hotel where the Israeli delegation is staying.
During his speech, Netanyahu spoke about the importance of the US-Israel relationship, emphasizing how the close ties between the two sides have played a significant role in the Jewish people’s fight against the Palestinian terror group Hamas.
“America and Israel must stand strong together,” Netanyahu exclaimed, earning a standing ovation.
“When we work together, something very simple happens: we win and they lose.”

The leader has vowed to continue the war until Hamas is eradicated after the October 7, 2023, massacre in Israel, in which the terrorist raped women, murdered and beheaded children and took hundreds of Israelis, including several Americans, hostage.
While Netanyahu was in Washington, protesters showed up condemning the war in Gaza, chanting “Free, free Palestine,” and some tried to block streets.
Protesters destroyed parts of Union Station, within walking distance of the Capitol.
The American flag was taken down from a flagpole outside the main train station.
