Favorite candidate emerges in the 2024 race as new polls reveal what Biden dropping out has done to Trump’s lead over Kamala Harris

Vice President Kamala Harris is now predicted to win the November presidential election for the first time since she became the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

According to online betting company PredictIt, Harris is predicted to be the favorite to beat former President Donald Trump this fall.

Shares of Harris’ winning bid hit 54 cents on Thursday, while shares of Trump’s winning bid hit 50 cents.

The company asks users to buy stocks ranging from one cent to 99 cents. The more likely an event is, the more expensive they are, indicating that people still expect a very close presidential race.

Harris took a lead on the betting platform for the first time on Wednesday, after which it swung back and forth for a while.

The shift in the betting market comes after a series of recent polls showed Harris closing the gap on Trump, even beating him in several key states since Biden dropped out of the race last month.

The latest Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll showed Harris ahead in four swing states — Arizona, Michigan, Nevada and Wisconsin — and tied in Georgia. Her lead in Michigan was as high as 11 points.

According to the poll, Trump was ahead in North Carolina and Pennsylvania.

Overall, the average of the polls in the head-to-head race between Harris and Trump shows Trump ahead by just over one percentage point.

Prediction market Polymarket shows that Trump’s lead for the winner of the presidential election is shrinking and Harris’s lead is growing, but the ex-president maintains his lead of 54 percent to 44 percent.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro has a comfortable lead in the betting market as her running mate with 57 cents. Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly is in second place with 19 cents, followed by Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear with 18 cents.
