Fauci faces more criticism as top Republicans accuse him of ‘false’ testimony in Congress about lab leak theories
Dr. Anthony Fauci has been accused by a leading Republican of making “false” claims during his stunning testimony in Congress and is facing calls to reappear.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, sent a letter to Dr. Fauci asking to participate in a transcribed interview, in part because the former COVID-19 Response Team leader claimed he was ‘open-minded’ about the lab-leak theory.
Jordan claims Fauci’s comments are absolutely “false,” according to the letter obtained by DailyMail.com.
Fauci claimed Monday that he was “open” to the lab leak theory and had no role in the “drive to downplay the lab leak theory.”
But Jordan claims this is “false on its face” because of the “pressure” Fauci and the Biden administration have put on social media companies to suppress lab leak posts, which has led to the censoring of online communications about COVID.
Virologists work in the laboratory of the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in Wuhan, central China’s Hubei province. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, wrote to Dr. Anthony Fauci on Friday that he was giving a “false” account of his “open mind” on the COVID lab leak theory, citing instances in which the pandemic patriarch appeared to catch a cold. water on the idea
Fauci’s story is “contradicted by Facebook’s decision to remove content about the lab leak theory due to ‘pressure’ from the Biden administration, specifically the Response Team, of which you were a member,” Jordan wrote.
“To better understand how and to what extent the executive branch has coerced or conspired to censor the speeches of Americans, we respectfully request that you appear for a transcribed interview before the committee.”
Jordan further wrote that Fauci “sidelined” former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) director Robert Redfield in an attempt to silence his view that COVID “came from a Wuhan lab.”
Jordan also demanded a trove of documents from the pandemic patriarch, saying his recent testimony warrants further investigation into his handling of COVID.
Supervisory Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., agrees that Fauci should be investigated, admitting he likes “the idea” of the pandemic patriarch facing criminal charges.
Fauci’s top aide when he was director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Dr. David Morens, testified before the House Coronavirus Pandemic Committee that he used his personal email to circumvent transparency laws.
Morens claimed to have a “secret back channel” to Fauci and suggested to his colleagues how they could provide the scientific information in a way to avoid Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.

Jordan criticized Fauci as he testified before Congress on Monday
Reports from the Coronavirus Select Subcommittee allege that you may have participated in a “conspiracy among the highest levels of (NIAID)” to “destroy” or “conceal” “official documents regarding the origins of COVID-19,” including by conducting official business on your personal email and deleting official records in an attempt to circumvent and disclose the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA),” Jordan alleged.
The Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic also requested access to Fauci’s personal email and phone records.
Morens testified under oath before the body on May 22.
He defended his actions by saying he did not know that using his personal email for work and then deleting the messages was against the laws, but received scorn from Democrats and the Republican party for his destruction of public records.
He was also roundly criticized for editing press releases for his “best friend” president of the EcoHealth Alliance, Dr. Peter Daszak – whose former director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Dr. Lawrence Tabak, testified that he was conducting gain-of-function research in Wuhan at the start of the pandemic.

Morens worked to help his “best friend” Daszak and even asked him for a “kickback” after the president of EcoHealth received a huge taxpayer-funded grant from NIAID – where Morens works.
Jordan requested the documents and interview by June 21.
