The father of the boy he saw waving a gun in the apartment hallway, pointing it at himself and pulling the trigger is charged with gross child neglect, as it turns out, cops asked the boy, “Where did you put the Pew-Pew? “
Dad Shane Osborne, 45, could face even more charges because he is a felon, officers told the New York Post.
Shocking images released over the weekend showed the diapered boy wandering around his Indiana apartment complex with a loaded gun, at one point even turning towards himself and pulling the trigger.
Fortunately, the boy was not injured as the bullets were not in the chamber of the gun.
Now the police have revealed that they had to ask the boy “where did you put the Pew-Pew?” How did they arrive on the scene?
The video appeared on On Patrol: Live on Saturday and prompted an investigation by Beech Grove police, a force located outside Indianapolis that is a frequent feature on the REELZ show.
Shane Osborne, 45, has been charged with child neglect but could face more charges, the officer said.
Neighbors saw the boy, who appears to be two or three years old, carrying the gun and yelling ‘pow pow pow!’ in his doorbell chamber.
Police were called and authorities quickly arrived to search the apartment where she lived with Osborne.
Initially, the father told the officers: ‘I don’t have a gun, I have never bought a gun in this house, if there is one it belongs to my cousin.’
But a 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol was found in the back of a desk drawer.
Osborne told police his cousin was staying with him at the time his young son was caught on camera with the gun.
Heartwarming footage aired on Reelz’s ‘On Patrol: Live’ shows the moment a little boy waved his father’s gun and at one point turned on himself.
In the clip, the boy can be seen pulling the trigger several times, but he was unharmed because the bullets were not in the chamber.
Neighbors called police after they saw the boy carrying the gun while yelling ‘pow, pow, pow’
In the clip, the boy can be seen wearing a diaper and wandering aimlessly up the stairwell in front of the closed door of his apartment, gun loaded.
As he walked, he could be seen pointing the gun at doors and into the air, rapidly pulling the trigger as he went.
Footage later shows the father being led out of the apartment in handcuffs.
“It’s almost incomprehensible what you’re seeing,” Beech Grove Deputy Police Chief Robert Mercuri said, according to WTHR.
“I saw it the next day and even though I knew the result, as I was watching the video, I was still scared.
You find yourself catching your breath. I don’t know how you can’t watch that video, whether you’re a parent or not, and don’t be surprised or upset.”
The neighbor who called police said the toddler “just kept going ‘pow, pow, pow, pow,'” according to the local news station.
Nicole Summers said: “He was standing in the middle of the hallway and he was holding it behind his back and I thought…like it was a real gun.” I sell guns for a living, so I know what a gun looks like.

The boy lives full time with his mother and is back with her after the incident. He said he was scared to see his son with a gun, but insisted that Osborne is a good father.
Beech Grove Mayor Dennis Buckley said he appreciated how quickly officers worked to secure the boy and the gun.
He said: “As with all of you, I am mortified by what happened and I am very grateful that no one was hurt, especially the little boy.”
