Father of Idaho murder house victim says he believes his daughter or her best friend WERE targeted

The father of one of the victims of the University of Idaho stabbing said he believes his daughter or her best friend was the target of the violent attack, despite police insisting they are not sure who the victim was.

Steven Goncalves, the father of 21-year-old Kaylee Goncalves, said he thought it was obvious his daughter or 21-year-old Madison Mogen were the targets of the attack because they slept in the same bed on the top floor of the house. – well away from the assassin’s entry point one floor below.

Goncalves’s comments come days after Moscow police retracted an earlier statement made by detectives who said they were sure one or two residents of the house were attacked. The police clarified that they were not sure if the house itself was attacked or if any of the victims were attacked.

Speaking to Fox and Friends, Goncalves explained that the room where his daughter and her friend slept was out of the way of the killer’s point of entry, but he “chose to go up there when he didn’t have to.”

Kaylee, Madison, her roommate Xana Kernodle, 20, and her boyfriend Ethan Chapin, 20, were stabbed to death on November 13, likely in their sleep. Kaylee and Madison slept on the third floor, and Xana and Ethan were on the second floor. Police said the killer entered the home through a sliding glass door on the second floor, which was level with the backyard.

Two other roommates were in the house but were unharmed and unaware that the attack occurred. They were sleeping on the first floor.

Speaking to Fox and Friends, Goncalves said it took little more than basic logic to understand that his daughter and her friend could have been targeted.

‘I’m not a professional so I want to specify that, but they said the entry point was either the slider or the window. It was the middle floor. So for me, he doesn’t have to go up the stairs,” he said. ‘Your entry and exit from it are available without having to go up or down stairs.

It looks like it probably hasn’t gone down. We don’t know for sure, but he obviously went up the stairs. So I’m using the logic that she chose to go up there when she didn’t have to.

‘So, I’m just putting the dots together. As for investigators, they’re very tight-lipped and they’re keeping everything under control, and I understand that, and I’m probably not the right person to share all this stuff,” she said. “So I just trust that their case is very strict, and they don’t really need to communicate with the community, and all the evidence is there in that house.”

Police have said that some of the victims had defensive wounds, but it is unclear who or how many. Goncalves said Saturday that Kaylee and Madison appeared to have died in different ways.

“I’ll cut to the chase: Their means of death don’t match up,” said Kaylee’s father, Steven Goncalves. Lawrence Jones Cross Country. She has said that Kaylee and Mogen were sleeping in the same bed when the attack occurred.

“Their damage points don’t match,” he added. I’m just going to say it. It didn’t leak to me. I earned that. I paid for that funeral. I sent my daughter to college. She came back in a box and I can talk about it.

When asked by Fox and Friends about those comments and if he had any idea whether his daughter or Madison were targeted based on their injuries, Goncalves said police had asked him not to specify.

“I asked permission to do just that, and they told me no,” Goncalves said. ‘I probably revealed information they wish they hadn’t, but the story is cooling.

There are fewer people coming to Moscow. I’m not going to go to sleep in my bed knowing that I can get up and I can go to town and I can do something, and I’m not leaving. I hate to be a pain, but as a parent, I can’t even sleep thinking that I might be doing something.

Kaylee and Madison were found on the top floor of their Moscow, Idaho, home. College lovers Ethan Chapin and Xana Kernodle were found in a second-floor bedroom while survivors Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke slept on the first floor.

Detectives on Wednesday night revealed they weren’t sure if the murdered University of Idaho students were the target of the killer, contradicting Chief James Fry, who previously insisted they were.

“We believe they are targeted because we take the totality of the circumstances that we are looking at,” Fry told reporters on November 20, a week after the killings. The statement was recently echoed by Latah County Attorney Bill Thompson.

But the department filed a correction, stating: “Detectives do not currently know if the residence or the occupants were specifically targeted, but are continuing to investigate.”

Nearly three weeks after the grizzly murders, few answers have emerged despite the father of one of the victims claiming the killer was “careless” and left behind a “mess” of evidence.
