Heartbroken family and friends have paid tribute to a popular bartender who was found dead on a beach in Kent last week.

The body of 26-year-old Toby Barrowcliff was found in Herne Bay on Friday, August 11.

Mr Barrowcliff’s distraught fiancée of 18 months Lucy Fruin said he was an ‘incredible’ stepfather to her young daughter.

She posted, “Anyone who knew him knows what a great man he was, but unfortunately some people’s past haunts them too much for them to want to continue. He was an incredible stepfather to our little princess and we will love him forever with everything we have.

‘You will never be forgotten my dear – you will always be my one true love. I don’t know how to go on without you by my side. I’m still in shock and just want to wake up from this nightmare.”

In conversation with Kent OnlineMr. Barrowcliff’s oldest sister, Lucy Speller, said he had struggled with mental health issues in the past.

She said: “He could be the life and soul of the party, but we knew he had his mental health issues.

“He was on antidepressants, but we never thought it would end like this. We are all heartbroken. Once you met Toby, you could never forget him. He was such a personality.

“He impressed everyone he met and was always there for you when you needed a tirade, a shoulder to cry on, or especially when you needed someone to help you finish the shots. But he also adored his many cousins.’

a Gofundmepage has been set up to support Mr Barrowcliff’s relatives with funeral expenses.

Family friend Sarah Robinson wrote, “Toby was always there for you when you needed a tirade (or) a shoulder to cry on…

Everyone struggles with finances. With that in mind, I’ve chosen to start this fundraiser.”
