Fatboy Slim admits he’s ‘done with making new music’ as it’s revealed his mother passed away on Christmas Day
Fatboy Slim has revealed that he no longer feels the spark to produce new music.
The DJ, real name Norman Cook, 60, whose mother passed away this week, shared at his Butlin’s All Back to Minehead event in November that his focus has shifted completely to live performances.
He admitted The sun: ‘You can’t make music unless you are absolutely passionate about it and it drives you from the moment you wake up in the morning.
‘I just don’t feel like it anymore. I feel that way about DJing and setting up these kinds of things, but I’ve lost a bit of my passion for making music.’
The DJ, whose last studio album Palookaville was released in 2004, went on to explain that his recent singles have been more about improving his DJ sets than pursuing a return to the studio.
MailOnline has contacted Norman’s representatives for comment.

This weekend, Norman performed alongside his son Woody Cook, whom he shares with radio host ex-wife Zoe Ball.
Reflecting on Woody’s journey to becoming a DJ, Norman said his son initially kept his ambitions quiet so as not to have to deal with people saying he only got into the industry because of his famous father.
Norman added: “All those years I could have mentioned him. But he couldn’t do that when he lived with me. He wanted to do it on his own. I think we’re both very afraid of nepotism.’
It was confirmed on Saturday that Norman’s mother Ros had died.
Woody announced the heartbreaking family news on Instagram, revealing she had passed away on Christmas Day.
The news of Ros’ death comes eight months after the death of Zoe’s beloved mother Julia, who died in March after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Woody shared the announcement, writing, “Ups and downs of the year. My grandmother Ros died on Christmas Day. She was a wonderful woman and “was ready to start her next life.” That kind of optimism and mentality really inspires me.
‘Losing two grandparents this year has really made me grow and focus a lot more on my family.
