Fat Joe roasted by MLB fans after rapper ‘kills Yankee Stadium aura’ before World Series game vs. Dodgers
Fat Joe’s opening song prior to Game 3 of the 2024 World Series between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers was terribly received by MLB fans.
As the series shifted from the California Hills to the Boogie Down Bronx, the Yankees had the rapper welcome fans to Yankee Stadium as the team entered the game trailing 0-2.
However, the New York native’s lackluster performance as he walked around the diamond left fans palming their faces and scratching their scalps. They then blasted the rapper at X for doing more ad-libbing than rapping during the four-minute mashup.
“That man Fat Joe on the hill in Tims,” captioned one of Fat Joe’s segments during the performance. “I KNOW those groundskeepers are having a heart attack off camera.”
“Fat Joe opening up for the Yankees might be one of the worst things I’ve ever seen,” a second added.

“Who thought this Fat Joe appearance before #WorldSeries Game 3, all alone in the middle of the field, was a good idea,” chimed in a third. ‘Man has to Ab lib almost all three numbers instead of the actual words.’
A fourth posted a video of a man smashing a television set while watching a game, with the caption: “Yankees fans watching Fat Joe are single-handedly killing the look of Yankee Stadium.”
Other fans viewed the Yankees antagonizing Ice Cube’s Game 2 appearance in Los Angeles with Fat Joe as a sign of things to come for the Yankees.
“Dodgers released Ice Cube and the Yankees released Fat Joe,” a fifth fan wrote with two crying emojis over a five-second clip of Shannon Sharpe crying.
“The Yankees brought in fat Joe to represent the Bronx…we lost,” wrote a sixth.
Fans didn’t hesitate to roast the Bronx native for his performance prior to Game 3
“Fat Joe’s performance had major ‘Dodgers in 4’ energy,” declared a seventh.
After the Dodgers immediately took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, another user claimed, “This home run is off Fat Joe. Plain and simple.”
The Yankees got off to an unpleasant start to the World Series, despite beating the Guardians in the ALCS. In Game 1, the Bronx Bombers blew a 3-2 lead with the match at their mercy when Freddy Freeman scored a walk-off slam to win the game 6-3.
Game 2 was no better for the Yankees as the Dodgers won 4-2 and remained in control despite Shohei Ohtani suffering a shoulder injury and leaving early.
