Rickie De Sole, womenswear designer and editorial director at Nordstrom, said Fashion that this spring is all about giving a ‘directional update’ to the tried and tested classics.
Citing examples of these modern takes, he referenced Loewe’s $2,700 lambskin quilted bag, as well as Bottega’s $2,400 camera bag.
And those willing to shell out on updating their wardrobe shouldn’t stop there, as De Sole said formal flats are making a comeback on the scene.
“I’m very interested in the idea of a formal, eye-catching, comfortable flat,” she said before referring to options that have the versatility to be worn with jeans or dresses.
Nordstrom’s fashion director said the Loewe Mini Goya lambskin quilted bag ($2,700) and the Bottega Mini Loop Intrecciato leather camera bag ($2,400) will be big sellers.
As for shoes, Rickie De Sole said to buy the Khaite Fawn Pump ($850) and the Prada Ankle Strap Square Toe Ballerina Flat ($1,090).
net-a-porter
Market director Libby Page has said that understated evening bags and belts are the way to go for the coming season.
“Evening bags are all the rage, and simple, elegant options are harder to find. They instantly elevate any casual outfit, and in recent seasons we have seen them take more of a leading role in runway collections,” he told the publication.
Page added: ‘Never underestimate the power of a good belt. Styled over the top of a blazer or simply added to a pair of jeans, this versatile accessory can become a centerpiece.’
The fashion guru also advised shoppers not to shy away from the color black, emphasizing how much it was seen in the SS23 collections.
Net-a-Porter’s market director listed the Khaite Anna Leather Shoulder Bag ($1,680) and Loewe Canvas-Trimmed Raffia Tote ($1,100) as the most popular spring bags.
Libby Page also selected the Toteme Leather Belt ($420) and Celine Eyewear Triomphe Oval-frame Acetate Sunglasses ($510).
match the fashion
Liane Wiggins, the brand’s head of womenswear, echoed sentiments that this spring customers will “continue to engage with timeless design.”
He advised that loafers would remain an iconic style that was perfectly versatile for those living a “hybrid lifestyle” and that ballerinas were also here to stay.
Going further, Wiggins said that over-the-knee and thigh-high boots would be this fall’s trend for those looking to get ahead.
At Matches Fashion, the womenswear chief highlighted The Row Margaux 17 Suede Bag ($4,990) and the Lemaire Camera Leather Cross-body Bag ($1,195).
Bottega’s Sardine Metal-handle Intrecciato-leather bag ($4,200) was another expensive pick
For shoes, loafers will continue to dominate, with Liane Wiggins opting for The Row Canal Grain Leather Loafers ($890) and Bottega Monsieur 50 Leather Loafers ($1,300).
Liane also picked out two Mary Jane sandals, Le Monde Beryl Mary Jane Velvet Ballet Flats ($390) and Vibi Venezia Whipstitched Velvet Mary Jane Flats ($88).
If you’re in the market for a new pair of boots, the fashion pro suggests the Khaite Davis 50 Croc-Embossed Leather Knee-High Boots ($1,380).
mytheresa
“Clean, luxe totes and top-handle bags are the key silhouettes this season,” said Tiffany Hsu, Mytheresa’s vice president of buying fashion, womenswear and kidswear.
She added that many of the classics are likely to be ‘reimagined with colour, crochet and craft this season’, and His advice did not stop there.
Tiffany also said that not only are bucket hats and baseball caps still in style, but we should expect to see a variety of sporty shades from big designers.
The last thing to keep in mind is that pastel colored stones and gems will become the staple of fine jewelry pieces.
If you’re in the mood to spend some cash, Mytheresa’s VP of Fashion Buying suggests The Row Margaux 17 Leather Tote ($5,390) and Alaïa Mina 50 Large Leather Tote Bag ($3,420).
Get ready for summer with the Valentino Locò Micro Leather Shoulder Bag ($1,100) and Gucci Oversized Mask Sunglasses ($414)
Shield your face from the spring sun with the Loewe Canvas Bucket Hat ($490) or the Jacquemus Le Bob Artichaut Cotton Hat ($135).
elise walker
Courtney Grant, Elyse Walker’s VP of Purchasing and Merchandising, teamed up with SVP of Jewelry Alex Lippin to deliver tips for this spring.
The duo said shoppers should opt for “extra-long, shoulder-skimming earrings” this spring to “elevate a daytime look or as the perfect accent when styling eveningwear.”
Importantly, fashionistas should also keep in mind that Heart-shaped jewelry is likely to return to the spotlight once again this season.
For a night on the town, Elyse Walker’s VP of Purchasing recommends the Gucci Python Interlocking G Stud Sandal ($1,290) or the Amina Muaddi Giorgia Crystal Sandals ($1,500).
Bottega makes another buyers list appearance with the Small Clicker Shoulder Bag ($5,000), as recommended by Courtney Grant
