Have you been wondering what the must-have item is this fall? Well, the answer might surprise you.
Because it turns out that the accessories taking the fashion world by storm right now are actually Sézane’s free tote bags.
The French brand, founded in 2013 by Morgane Sézalory, offers the sail carrier with every purchase.
But the bags have since become such that they are sold online for significant profit with prices anywhere up to $125.

Desperate shoppers have been flocking to resale sites in an attempt to get one of the free tote bags – especially those that are part of a special collaboration
Sézane’s free carrier bags are currently taking the fashion world by storm as the must-have accessory
Sézane started as an e-commerce business before eventually establishing physical stores.
While building her brand, Sézalory was keen to implement the free totalization initiative from the start in an effort to give every customer a keepsake.
She talked about the decision Elle: ‘I thought, okay, Paris is small, so if you have something that’s very visual, and all the girls have it… if you don’t know the brand and you see someone wearing something very cool a few times wearing in the same week, at some point you’re going to think: what is this?
“And then you look and you end up on the website.”
It turns out that Sézalory was right, as anger continues to grow around the accessory more than a decade later.
In recent weeks, desperate shoppers have flocked to resale sites in an attempt to get one of the free tote bags — especially those that are part of a special collaboration.
There are currently dozens of listings on Poshmark – and other sites – demanding very high prices.
Among them are a ‘rare Sezane x Farm Rio tote bag’ originally listed for $150, a jungle print carrier for $125 and a floral print version for $100.

The brand releases a new bag design to celebrate each season – and Sezane also marks the launch of any new collaboration with a special bag
Additionally, there are a handful of dedicated Facebook groups popping up for fans of the brand.
One such page, titled Sézane Addicts USA-Canada, consists of over 8,000 users and claims to ‘promote and help, sales, exchange’ in its aim to ‘facilitate access to our favorite brand!’
The brand releases new tote bag designs seasonally – and will also celebrate any new collaboration with the launch of a new bag, usually with an illustration or print by the other brand.
With the ongoing furor surrounding the modest accessory, Sézalory told the publication that although she sees the totes around Paris all the time, she doesn’t ‘internalize’ them.
Her own collection was also recently repurposed after welcoming her third child.
She said: ‘The quality of (the bags) is great. I put my diapers in it — my Sézane bag is my baby bag.’
