Fans tear into Chelsea interim boss Frank Lampard after just one win in his last NINETEEN games

Please go back to science. Coaching is not for you!’: Fans are tearing up Frank Lampard after just one win in his last NINETEEN games – as they claim the interim Chelsea boss is ‘completely out of his depth’ after five consecutive defeats

  • Frank Lampard has lost five games in a row as Chelsea interim manager
  • The Blues’ latest defeat came at home to Brentford on Wednesday night
  • Supporters are now growing impatient with Lampard’s record at the club

It hasn’t quite been the return Frank Lampard dreamed of as Chelsea interim manager.

The Blues suffered a fifth consecutive defeat to the club’s legendary midfielder on Wednesday night following a 2-0 home defeat by Brentford at Stamford Bridge.

Admittedly, getting results as a Chelsea manager has been a tough job this season, with predecessors Thomas Tuchel and more recently Graham Potter being sacked as they struggled for wins.

The West London side are going through one of their worst-ever Premier League campaigns and are mired in the bottom half of the table despite spending over £600m on players this season in owner Todd’s first full campaign Boehly.

Lampard is on his second run as manager at Stamford Bridge, having been sacked earlier in January 2021 to make way for Tuchel, with many viewing the abolition as particularly harsh at the time.

Having first taken over in 2019, Lampard had endured a summer where the club was trading under a transfer embargo, but still led them to a top-four finish to underline his managerial credentials.

But since his departure from Chelsea, not everything has gone according to plan.

In January 2021, he took control of Everton, helping them to a late breakaway to beat relegation.

However, unable to start this term, he was sacked just short of 12 months in January as the Toffees once again battled for survival in the top flight.

Unfortunately his poor results towards the end of his time at Goodison Park have spilled over to Stamford Bridge and it means he has lost 16 of his last 19 games as manager.

The run began on October 9 when his side Everton lost 2-1 at home to Manchester United – a game in which Cristiano Ronaldo scored his last Premier League goal for the Red Devils.

It also came after a seven-match unbeaten run.

Still, supporters are unimpressed with Lampard, with one fan listing the damning statistics against the Blues interim boss.

They said ’36 goals conceded, 8 goals scored, 2 clean sheets, one club left 19th, currently one 11th. This is no coincidence, he is completely out of his depth in management.’

Another also lashed out at Lampard’s poor recent record, commenting on how to go into TV work, saying: ‘One win, 2 draws, 16 losses in 19 games. Awful, Awful, Awful. Frank Lampard, please go back to knowledge. Coaching isn’t for you.’

However, Chelsea are on the verge of appointing a full-time manager and former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino reach an ‘oral agreement’ to take over at Stamford Bridge.
