Football fans have turned to TNT Sports after the broadcaster introduced Oasis star and Manchester City fan Noel Gallagher as co-commentator for the club’s Champions League match with Sporting Lisbon.
The Man City fanatic joined commentator Darren Fletcher and co-commentator Ally McCoist at the Jose Alvalade Stadium ahead of the match.
After giving his thoughts on Pep Guardiola’s side ahead of the match, the Oasis star joined the portal commentary line-up for the tie.
Fans made several complaints on social media about the coverage while Gallagher gave his opinion during the match.
Several people questioned why Gallagher was part of the coverage, with one labeling the decision as “absurd.”

Fans claimed it was an ‘absurd’ decision for the Oasis star to provide analysis of the match
“I love Noel Gallagher but he’s actually commentating on a Champions League match involving the team he supports,” one fan wrote.
‘What the hell is happening to football on TV in this country? No wonder people don’t pay for subscriptions anymore.’
‘Noel Gallagher on the Champions League commentary might be the most ‘The Games Gone’ moment yet. Absurd,” another added.
A third wrote: ‘If you think TNT sports coverage couldn’t get any worse, they’ve got Noel Gallagher on co-commentary, dear me.’
Others offered cheeky suggestions about other musicians who could comment on their team’s upcoming matches.
One wrote: ‘TNT has Noel Gallagher commentating on the Citeh match tonight…I wonder if they’ll have Ozzy [Osbourne] Doing the Villa tomorrow night…’
Others jokingly suggested that Ozzy Osbourne and Sam Fender could commentate on their teams
‘Fair play for TNT Sports. Just when you thought their commitment to dismal Champions League coverage couldn’t get any worse, they lower the bar even further by having Noel Gallagher on commentary,” said one critic.
‘I look forward to hearing Sam Fender’s thoughts the next time Newcastle is on TV.’
Gallagher watched as Man City took a fourth-minute lead through Phil Foden, but Sporting hit back with Viktor Gyokeres.
Guardiola and Gallagher were left stunned in the early stages of the second half as a Maximiliano Araujo goal and Gyokeres penalty gave Sporting a shock 3-1 lead.
The Champions League match is Ruben Amorim’s last home match against the Portuguese champions before he joined Manchester United as head coach on November 11.
