Fans slam ‘disgraceful’ scenes after Aaron Ramsdale was shoved by Richarlison and KICKED by a fan

Fans condemned an ugly incident from Arsenal’s 2-0 North London derby win in which Aaron Ramsdale was kicked by a fan after the final whistle.

Tottenham’s Richarlison first shoved the goalkeeper as he was walking behind the goal to collect his water bottle, before a fan jumped from the stands to kick him in the back before he was pushed aside by the stewards.

Both Ramsdale and teammate Granit Xhaka had to be held up afterwards as they reacted to the incident, before Mikel Arteta calmed the situation down and led his players to celebrate victory with the traveling fans.

A fan then kicked him in the back and jumped out of the stands towards him.

While the Arsenal goalkeeper taunted supporters at the final whistle, his subsequent treatment was heavily criticized online by Spurs and Arsenal fans alike.

“What that fan did was an absolute disgrace and should be named, shamed and banned,” one tweeted, while others understood their “frustration” but added “you can’t be doing that.”

Jamie Redknapp told Sky the kick was “completely unacceptable” adding “that guy shouldn’t be allowed into a football stadium” while Gary Neville simply called him a “moron”.

Richarlison’s behavior after the match was also criticized by supporters, as his actions were labeled “totally wrong” and the Brazilian striker was called “the biggest baby in the league”.

Arteta was reluctant to talk about the incident after the game, but confirmed that Ramsdale is fine.

The PFA later released a statement saying: “Violence towards players is completely unacceptable. These types of incidents happen all too often.

‘Gamers have the right to be safe in their workplace. When a player is attacked, we expect that the laws and regulations in place to protect them are applied correctly.

Both Ramsdale and Granit Xhaka had to be taken away from the Tottenham fans afterwards.

“As a players union we treat this as a priority issue. We will continue to work with the authorities to demand that players and staff are better protected in their workplace.”

Off-pitch antics aside, Sunday provided an excellent victory for Arsenal, who are eight points clear at the top of the Premier League and also won at Tottenham for the first time in eight years.

Spurs remain fifth at mid-season and five points behind Manchester United, who have played one game less.
