Fans say ‘we’ll miss you’ as they rally around the Hairy Bikers after announcing a ‘well deserved break’ and sharing the best bits from their Agony Uncles podcast during Dave Myers’ cancer battle

Fans say they will miss the Hairy Bikers as they rally behind Dave Myers and Si King after their popular podcast Agony Uncles announced the pair are taking a “well-deserved break.”

The hiatus was announced Friday in an Instagram post promoting the latest episode of the show, titled Best Of Confidential Corner Pt 1, a montage of some of the podcast’s “best bits.”

Producer Mark Jeeves, also known as the Thin White Duke, called the episode an “annual favorite” that highlights the four “most listened to and commented on” issues submitted by listeners over the past year.

The montage, which by its name could have sequels, was launched as Dave, Si and their ‘sidekick’ Posh Tash started their summer vacation.

The break comes after Dave, 65, made his cancer diagnosis public in May 2022. He has since shared how he had to “learn to walk again” amid his health problems.

The video montage, posted to the podcast’s Instagram account on Friday, was used to highlight the most recent episode of Agony Uncles and announce the show’s holiday.

In the post, the duo told fans, “Those hard-working Agony uncles are taking a well-deserved break, giving us a chance to look back on a busy year of problem-solving.”

Singing, the pair added, “Hear this week’s best across all streaming services!”

The Best of Confidential Corner returns to the days when Dave, Si and Tash helped viewers solve problems. In one part, entitled The Recipe of Love, the couple gives their advice to a couple who are having problems in the bedroom.

The compilation episode returns somewhat titled The Swinging Mum & Dad, in which Dave, Si, and Tash respond to a listener who found love letters hidden in the floorboards of her childhood home.

However, the letters seemed to describe how the listener’s mother and father attended swinger parties while the children were staying with their grandparents.

In the third part of the episode, the group answered a problem from a listener who recently started dating a woman who is adventurous with food in the bedroom.

The listener, whose story was highlighted in a piece called the Pinot Piles, shared how the last time he and his lover were intimate, she poured wine over his genitals, which irritated his hemorrhoids.

He said he was “holy to his bum” and asked the show for advice on how to handle the situation with his girlfriend, as he didn’t want to “scare” her off.

Concluding the montage, the show revisits what the pair called a “toe-curler” episode from March entitled Caught In The Act.

The viewer shared how she is worried about confronting her parents who will visit the flat she shares with her boyfriend in a week.

She described how her parents had called via video to discuss arrangements for their trip while she and her boyfriend were intimate. The couple quickly got dressed and answered the FaceTime call.

After the conversation ended, the listener closed her laptop, thinking she had ended the conversation, and they resumed sex. However, the conversation had not ended and the woman’s father could hear their activities.

She asked the podcast for advice on what to do when her parents, who she strongly suspects were having sex, came into town.

The Hairy Bikers rose to fame with their popular cooking shows, but have slowed down their busy schedule due to Dave’s health.

It comes after Dave spoke of the tearful moment he was able to get back on his bike for the first time since his cancer diagnosis.

He recalled the emotional moment when he gave a health update and admitted that he and fellow Hairy Biker Si King were both left in tears when he was able to ride again.

He told the Yorkshire Post: ‘It’s been hard but I’m not alone and I’m getting through it and I’m back to work.

“I had to learn to walk and cycle again, and when we got back on the bike with Kingy in the sun, we both had tears in our eyes.”

His best friend Si added: ‘He’s a real scrapper and he’s in good shape. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster for everyone who loves and cares about Dave.”

Dave has finally been able to get back on his bike after buying a brand new vehicle earlier this year when he shared hopes of getting back in the saddle.

He bought a new bike, a £4,699 RE Bullet Trials 500, in February and was joined by Si, 56, to look at the vehicle.

At the time, Dave took to Instagram to share a photo of himself and Si grinning in front of his new purchase at Arnolds Motorcycles in Burton.

Alongside the photo, Dave wrote, “Big step forward to get back in the saddle.

‘Si came with me to see my new bike, a 500cc royal Enfield bullet trial bike. Very exciting, thanks Arnold’s motorcycles from Burton. I love Dave.’

Elsewhere, Dave gave another update on his cancer battle last month, describing it as a “work in progress.”

Dave, who has not revealed what kind of cancer he has, shared that he has undergone “30 a lot” of chemotherapy in the past year.

Dave remained positive throughout his journey, adding that he thought his cancer was “going in the right direction” as he shared his grueling schedule for treatment.

He told The Times: ‘I’m fine. It is a work in progress. We’ve had some rough years, but this one is… I had 30 rounds of chemotherapy over three weeks and then a week off. It’s going in the right direction.’

He went into detail about what awaits him on his cancer journey, continuing: “So that’s five sessions every other week and then I’m going to film in Scotland for two weeks, and then I’ll go back to chemo, but that will be twice a week.” month.’

Dave has previously shared that he was sometimes too ill to walk and unable to ride his motorcycle because he was unstable amidst his health problems.

“Thank God, the chemotherapy doesn’t age you quickly. Because your balance is deteriorating, so for someone with a motorcycle it’s a disaster and my walking is really affected,” he told the How To Be 60 podcast.

“It’s neuropathy in your feet, so it’s hard to stand. So I had to learn how to walk again.

Chemotherapy is funny, it’s one of life’s great levellers. It doesn’t matter if you’re on television or on welfare, if you understand that, you’re in the shit. And sometimes the chemo makes you depressed.

“It’s kind of a chemical depression, and it’s really hard because everyone tells you to be positive, but if the chemistry in your body isn’t telling you that story, that’s hard.

‘Hopefully more positive chapters will follow after that.’
