Fans rips into Australian Idol following Ripley Alexander’s shock elimination: ‘He was robbed’

Viewers have turned to Australian Idol after fan favorite Ripley Alexander was eliminated from the singing competition on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old was sent home when he failed to make the cut after fans voted live for their Top Ten contestants.

And now his supporters have taken to social media to share their grief, with some complaining that the show has been ‘rigged’.

Across the country, 1.3 million viewers made their choice, with Ripley surprisingly finishing in the bottom four.

‘Manipulated! There’s no way he left because I know everyone voted,” one fan shared on the Australian Idol Instagram.

“The backlash here is going to be real,” said another disappointed Idol viewer.

“I don’t watch this anymore, the judging is ridiculous,” another fan posted.

Many Idol fans took to the show’s social media to complain that they had encountered problems trying to vote for Ripley.

“As for the mood,” one fan explained.

‘Did anyone get a reply back from Australian Idol thanking you for your vote? Because I voted for Ripley three times and got no response… was the vote set correctly?’

“I tried to vote for him (Ripley) and it kept coming back.”

When the bottom four were announced on Tuesday’s episode, judges Kyle Sandilands, Marcia Hines and Amy Shark were stunned by the shocking result.

The bottom four were Ripley from Brisbane; Imogen, 23, from Victoria; Ivana, 20, from TJ Zimba of Victoria and Karratha, 24.

About Ripley, Kyle said: “The man has millions of streams and such a unique voice. I’m shocked you’re at the bottom.’

The bottom four artists took the stage to prove that they deserve a spot in the Top 10.

Ripley impressed with his version of Mercy by Shawn Mendes, while Ivana showed her powerful voice on Where Have You Been by Rihanna.

Imogen wowed the crowd with her latest performance, singing Celine Dion’s It’s All Coming Back To Me Now, while TJ set the mood with Billie Eilish’s Bad Guy.

Kyle called Ripley’s elimination “super talent” “Unbelievable. A real shame.’

Amy said: ‘I honestly have no words… my mind is blown right now.’

Marcia figured Ripley was so popular that Australia might have forgotten to vote.

‘You have to vote to keep people aside. We don’t want this to happen again. If you really like someone, vote for them,” she said.

“I feel like it’s our fault for talking you into it, Ripley.”

Ripley left the show along with Imogen.

Ripley was modest upon his departure, telling the judges and audience, “I love you all. I would like to thank you all very much.’
