Fans rip out seats from the Coliseum ahead of the As’ final-ever game in Oakland this week

With the Oakland Athletics’ departure from the Bay Area looming, fans are taking matters into their own hands to snag Coliseum souvenirs.

In preparation for the Ashes’ final series at the legendary stadium against the Texas Rangers, fans take pieces of the stadium with them, knowing that their team will leave the stadium after their final home game on the 26th.

In a video posted by Bleacher Report, a fan can be seen ripping his chair out of one of the lower sections of the Coliseum.

Dressed in a green Athletics uniform, the fan held up his newest, most prized possession to the crowd after stealing the seats he had paid for.

His performance was met with cheers from his fellow A’s fans.

The seat looting comes as A’s fans continue to worry that management is trying to move the team out of Oakland earlier than expected.

With an eventual move to Las Vegas awaiting a concrete date, it was announced in April that the team would relocate to Sacramento until then. Additionally, “Oakland” will be dropped from the team name beginning next year.

Their detour to California’s state capital will last until at least the 2027 season.

The team will add “Las Vegas” to their name once they move into their $1.5 billion stadium in Sin City.

Team officials acknowledge that 2028 may be a realistic target so that the finishing touches can be put on the new home base while the team remains based in Sacramento.

After spending the past 57 seasons at the Coliseum, the 14,000-capacity Sutter Health Park will serve as the temporary home next year.

Fans voiced their frustrations earlier this year and called for owner John Fisher to sell the team after he expressed his enthusiasm about the Sacramento pit stop.

The A’s leave their home stadium with a losing record as they sit in second place in the AL West at 68-89.
