Fans have once again torn Major League Baseball and its jersey supplier, Fanatics, after Yankees pitcher Carlos Rodon sweated heavily through his uniform against the Astros on Friday night.
MLB has faced continued criticism since Spring Training over various details regarding their new jerseys, with the league’s representatives saying the issues would be resolved by Opening Day.
Instead of using Majestic to manufacture jerseys, Nike, which developed and designed the threads, turned to Fanatics this season.
Tony Clark, executive director of the Major League Baseball Players Association, said last month that players’ concerns about the new league jerseys from Nike and Fanatics were heard and that “work is being done to mitigate the situation.”
Entering the first weekend of the regular season, it is unclear what progress the league has made on the jersey front as another notable example of the decline in quality occurred.

Here’s a collection of social media posts about Rodon sweating through his jersey
“It’s embarrassing to see Carlos Rodon sweating through his crappy Fanatics jersey,” said someone on X. “How could MLB let this happen? They had six weeks to fix it after spring training started. Miserable.’
“As some of you have noted, the #Yankees gray Fanatics jerseys are not very absorbent when it comes to sweat,” said a Yankees reporter on X. “Carlos Rodón (among others from the past two days) looks when he was sprayed with a fire hose despite throwing in a climate-controlled stadium.”
“Great job on the uniforms this year, @Fanatics,” one baseball fan wrote. “This looks fantastic on the field.”
Another fan posted a photo of Sean Miller, when he was Arizona’s men’s basketball coach, completely sweating through his shirt to represent Rodon.
Rodon threw just 4.1 innings against the Astros before being pulled from the game.
