Fans point out the big problem with Canadian rapper Drake’s 2025 Australian tour

Fans of Canadian rapper Drake have pointed out a problem with his upcoming 2025 Australian tour.

The One Dance hitmaker, 38, announced this week that he is coming Down Under for the first time in eight years during a podcast with Canadian streamer XQC.

He kicks off his tour on February 9 with shows in Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast.

But eagle-eyed fans have pointed out a potential scheduling issue as Drake’s Aussie tour kicks off on the same day as the NFL Super Bowl.

“I’m so confused: Did Drake think people wouldn’t watch the Super Bowl to see him live in Australia?” asked a fan on X, formerly known as Twitter.

However, others were quick to point out the time difference between Australia and the US, with some suggesting there is a very good reason Drake would want to be on the other side of the world when the Super Bowl kicks off.

“Drake planned an Australian tour from February 9 to March…I wonder what else happened that day that made him want to leave the country,” one fan wrote.

They alluded to the fact that the 2025 Super Bowl Half-Time Show will be headlined by Drake’s rival Kendrick Lamar.

“He’s going as far as humanly possible to not hear about the Super Bowl,” one fan commented, while another said something similar: “He had to leave the entire continent.”

Others suggested that if Drake was trying to steal his rival’s thunder, he might have been misguided.

‘Does he know it’s seventeen hours ahead? So if he tries to distract people, he won’t do it?’

However, another suggested that if it was indeed a publicity battle, Drake would come out on top.

“The Super Bowl — it’s a 12-minute show and it’s done. Drake Tour will swamp the timeline and kill the hype of the Super Bowl performances,” the fan wrote.

Lamar and Drake were initially friends and colleagues in the early 2010s, collaborating on the track Buried Alive Interlude.

But everything fell apart in March, when Lamar dissed J. Cole and Drake on Like That in response to their 2023 song First Person Shooter, in which Cole claims he, Drake and Lamar are the “big three” in modern rap music.

In early April, Cole responded by offering up the diss track 7 Minute Drill, but within a week he apologized for the song and removed it from streaming services.

Drake jumped into the mix by releasing the songs Push Ups and Taylor Made Freestyle later in April, sparking a back-and-forth between the two stars.

Drake, 38, sent fans wild when he announced he was touring Australia this week during an Instagram livestream with Canadian streamer XQC.

He said he was calling the tour “the Anita Max Wynn Tour,” the alter ego he introduced online last December.

“He’s going as far as humanly possible not to hear about the super bowl,” one fan commented, while another said something similar: “He had to leave the entire continent.”

‘For everyone watching from Australia, I will be returning to Australia on February 9 for the first time in eight years. I’m coming back to Australia on tour,” he said.

“Funnily enough, it’s actually called the Anita Max Wynn Tour,” Drake added, revealing that Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast were the only planned stops.

Anita Max Wynn is the alter ego of Drake’s cartoon character who styles herself in a pink and yellow outfit with a bob haircut and glasses.

He often uses the pseudonym and caricature as a gambling mascot, with Anita Max Wynn sounding like the popular gambling term ‘I need a max win’.
