Fans of Channel Nine’s The Summit slam the new season as they complain about contestant Charlotte Shelton’s emotional edit: ‘Over it’

It is the hair-raising real-life action-adventure series where participants compete in a death-defying mountain climb.

And now superfans of Channel Nine reality series The Summit have attacked the tension-filled series for being ‘too emotional’.

The show, hosted by Jai Courtney, 33, centers on 14 strangers who aim to reach a mountaintop in 15 days for a cash prize of $1 million.

Complaints have emerged from viewers that the montages in the episodes aired so far this season have included too many tears and not enough excitement.

β€œToo much crying,” one fan lamented on a fansite dedicated to the show.

‘Love it. Although I’m over the crying lol,” another agreed.

Sadly, 35-year-old contestant Charlotte Shelton has been singled out by some on the site for her tearful reactions to the life-or-death competition on the mountain.

β€œI’m crying over Charlotte all the time,” said one fan.

Meanwhile, another fan suggested a way to “fix” the editing: “They need to focus on the actual path and journey instead of dealing with constant emotional outbursts.”

Other Summit fans wanted to see more “helicopter action” from the remote New Zealand location this season.

The cast includes former soap star Olympia Valance, Baywatch star Simmone Jade Mackinnon and former Bardot band member Tiffani Wood.

It comes after Ny Breaking Australia revealed the series was on the verge of being canceled after season one failed to achieve big viewing figures last year.

A Nine insider told Ny Breaking Australia that the network previously had no plans for a second season, but decided to greenlight it.

The Jai Courtney-hosted action-adventure series, initially touted as the network’s breakout series of the year, struggled to top 400,000 viewers.

The source painted a picture of a series full of production nightmares and financial setbacks due to severe weather conditions.

Filming the action-packed 2,500-metre mountain trek in New Zealand turned out to be a huge job, costing hundreds of thousands of euros.
