New Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon is off to a rocky start in Arizona after a video of him trying to inspire his players for all the wrong reasons went viral on social media.

The 40-year-old, who is about to begin his first year as head coach of an NFL team, tried to fire up his squad at a team meeting in which he asked his players if they had “fire in your gut.” images from the showThe cardinals’ battle plan.’

Gannon went on to claim that he was “looking for fucking killers,” besides delivering his pep talk in as flat a voice as possible.

And, of course, the internet didn’t pass up an opportunity to troll the Ohio native.

“Those guys look bored,” said one NFL fan on X, formerly known as Twitter, referring to some of the players’ stoic facial expressions in response to what should have been a rallying cry from Gannon.

The freshman head coach served as the defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles for the past two seasons, guiding Jalen Hurts and Co. to the Super Bowl. Last year, he led the second defense in the league.

Two days after the Super Bowl LVII loss, Gannon was hired by the Cardinals as their head coach on February 14.

Two months later, it was revealed that he had an interview with the Cardinals the week after the Eagles won their NFC Championship Game against the 49ers, which is a period of intolerable behavior.

According to Marcus Hayes of The Philadelphia Inquirerthe Eagles front office was furious with Gannon, believing he had been distracted prior to the Super Bowl.

As a result of the tampering, the Eagles and Cardinals announced they had traded the third round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and the Cardinals received the Eagle’s 2024 fifth round pick.
