Football fans found it hilarious when mocking Tottenham mocked Ally Pally during the World Darts Championship final, and James Maddison couldn't resist biting back.

Around a noisy Alexandra Palace the chorus of 'Tottenham get beat everywhere they go' sounded as the football rivalry turned into the darts evening of reckoning.

Luke Littler's dream of becoming the world's youngest-ever darts champion was shattered after a breathtaking comeback from Luke Humphries, who won five straight sets to complete a 7-4 victory.

Despite the harrowing drama on the oche, revelers made their own fun with anti-Tottenham chants.

Spurs star Maddison hit back by holding up a sign reading 'North London is white', referring to his team's rivalry with Arsenal.

“It will always make me laugh that 'Tottenham gets battered everywhere they go' is literally sung by everyone, everywhere,” wrote a user of X, formerly Twitter.

“Tottenham got battered by the darts, it finished me off,” said another.

“I wish they were looking at James Maddison when the crowd started chanting: 'Tottenham is getting battered,'” wrote another.

Another applauded: 'Ally Pally sings in unison 'Tottenham is getting battered everywhere' to James Maddison in the crowd. Poetic s***housery.'

Despite the strong current in favor of mocking Spurs – who sit a commendable fifth in the Premier League, just one point off the top four – there was resistance from stalwart Ange Postecoglou.

'Madders respond to chants of 'Tottenham getting battered' at darts tonight! Fully COYS (Come on You Spurs)' wrote one fan account, posting the photo of Maddison holding up his pro-Spurs banner.

'I love hearing how Tottenham are being battered during darts. Rent for free in your head. How annoyed you must get every time we win. I love it,” someone else wrote.
