Fans hit out at Man United star for his ‘selfish’ behaviour in Real Betis clash

‘Antony is SO GREEDY!’: Fans criticized the Man United winger after he decided to shoot while THREE teammates waited for a touch during his team’s Europa League match with Real Betis.

Manchester United winger Antony has been criticized by fans for wasting a great opportunity after he opted to shoot rather than pass any of his three teammates with the goal at his mercy during the Europa League clash of his team with Real Betis.

The incident occurred in the second half with United leading 3–1 after goals from Antony and Bruno Fernandes after Ayoze Pérez disallowed Marcus Rashford’s opening goal in the first half.

Antony played through goal and only had to beat former Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, while also having Fred, Wout Weghorst and Rashford on his left waiting for a touch.

But the Brazilian forward, inexplicably, looked for the goal himself and put his effort over the crossbar. His teammates were puzzled as to why he hadn’t set them up for an easy goal, and they weren’t the only ones frustrated by Antony’s decision-making.

“Antony is so greedy it’s an easy goal if you pass your teammate there,” one fan claimed on Twitter.

Man United winger Antony has been criticized for not passing his teammates.

Another supporter was equally upset, insisting that Antonio had cost the team a sure goal.

‘Antonio too selfish. If he had squared that pass to Fred or Wout they would have scored,’ they wrote.

Antony was also criticized for always looking for the same result with his shots instead of looking for his teammates in better positions.

“Antony should learn to pass, play up front and assist and not look for finesse all the time,” one fan posted on social media.

Meanwhile, one fan was even more forceful, simply writing, “Just pass me the fucking ball bro.”

United managed to score a late fourth goal through Weghorst, and will travel to Spain with a three-goal lead for the second leg next week.

Erik ten Hag’s men provided the perfect response after their humiliating defeat at Anfield last Sunday, but it appears Antony still has more to do to convince fans that he can become a star at Old Trafford.
