Fans and pundits have praised Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper Francis Uzoho after his stunning performance in his side’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United on Thursday at Old Trafford.
The Cypriot side were close behind for most of the Europa League clash, but United were unable to find a way out until Scott McTominay struck again, when Uzoho made a series of fine saves to keep the hosts at bay.
It was a frustrating night for the Red Devils as Uzoho somehow denied Cristiano Ronaldo and co, and BT Sport pundit Owen Hargreaves praised the Nigerian shot-stopper, who happens to be a United fan, after the game.

Owen Hargreaves thinks Uzoho ‘changed his career’ with his performance against United
“That’s what it feels like to have the game of your life. Even if they lost, he smiles. He was great,” Hargreaves said full-time.
“If you think he’s their second keeper, you’ll be surprised. He’ll take a move off the back of that gig, I guarantee you.
“This match will change his career, maybe his life. I think that’s what sport is all about, moments like that.’
Uzoho made his first save of the game in the opening two minutes when he tapped Marcus Rashford’s curling attempt over the bar.
Fellow commentator Robbie Savage was also impressed by Uzoho’s showing at the end of the match.
“What an achievement, Uzoho!” he exclaimed as the game ticked into added time.
Unfortunately for Omonia and Uzoho, McTominay scored from close range in the 93rd minute to seal a 1-0 win for United.

However, this didn’t detract from Uzoho’s mood and fans were also full of praise for him on social media throughout the evening.
“Suddenly Francis Uzoho becomes the best Buffon,” joked one supporter.
Another fan went with a similar theme, adding: ‘Uzoho is going to be the best Manuel Neuer playing against his boys’ club at Old Trafford. Rashford has tried everything against him – good saves from the Nigerian goalkeeper every time.”
Uzoho spent time in Spain earlier in his career playing for Deportivo La Coruna and Elche, while also netting 25 caps for Nigeria, but some fans felt he had never played as well as Thursday night.
