- One supporter called the corner kick from the pre-season friendly ‘sexy’
Fans were left in awe by the new corner technique Liverpool trialled during their 2-1 pre-season win over Arsenal on Wednesday night.
With half an hour left on the clock and Liverpool already ahead through a goal from Mo Salah, the Reds were awarded a corner.
But this was no ordinary situation as in only their second match under new manager Arne Slot, no fewer than eight Liverpool players lined up behind the far post on the edge of the penalty area.
They then all spread out to different positions as Kostas Tsimikas crossed in the hope of confusing the Arsenal defence.
This time it didn’t work out, with Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein tipping the ball away before the referee awarded the Gunners a free-kick. But the unique tactic caused a stir after the clip went viral on social media, and many fans are happy to see it.

One fan called the bizarre corner kick ‘sexy’, even though it didn’t result in a goal
“Oh no, this is so funny and so sexy at the same time,” one fan exclaimed, followed by a series of crying and laughing emojis.
Another fan was also impressed, saying: ‘This is brilliant’.
One supporter admitted it was a “weird” ritual but gave his approval anyway, writing, “This looks so weird, I really love it.”
Corners can sometimes be a bit simple with few imaginative tactics, but one fan was happy that things would look different under Slot’s leadership. He claimed: ‘Finally corners are becoming interesting to watch’.
Slot vowed to do things his own way after replacing Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, and he has already begun to make his mark in pre-season.
Liverpool fans were also very excited about the way their team came from the back in the build-up to Salah’s goal on Wednesday night.
They cheered ‘Arne Slot ball’ as the Reds produced a great team move which Salah finished in style.
