Mile High City on top of the world! Fans go wild on the streets of Denver and set off fireworks to celebrate Nuggets’ first-ever NBA title

Denver Nuggets fans brought the city to a standstill Monday night as they took to the streets with fireworks to celebrate their first-ever NBA championship.

As the players celebrated in the dressing room, the supporters clearly didn’t want to go home and instead took to the streets near Ball Arena to cheer.

Video from Denver 7 News showed the wild scenes in the city, as a helicopter flew over and surveyed the area.

At one point, a large circle was cleared to set off fireworks, before fans took turns jumping through the smoke and fire in dangerous scenes.

Toilet paper was reported to be thrown around the city, as fans lined up on cars and climbed lampposts to get a better view of the festivities.

The incredible scenes were fueled by a 94-89 victory for the Denver Nuggets over the Miami Heat, giving them an unassailable 4-1 lead in the best-of-seven Finals series.

Nikola Jokic was once again the star of the Nuggets, who dominated the playoffs – leading in points, rebounds and assists.

“It was ugly and we couldn’t take any pictures, but we got through it eventually,” Jokic said. “I’m just glad we won the game.”

The Serb was also unanimously voted MVP of the NBA Finals in the wake of the win, taking his young daughter along to lift the trophy.
