While the city of Philadelphia was locked in their Phillies run to the NLCS, two athletes from another sport were invited to participate in their first-ever baseball game – and were put on the microphone for the entire experience.

Philadelphia Eagles running back D’Andre Swift and safety Terrell Edmunds were positioned just behind home plate for the Phillies second game of the National League Championship Series.

The two admitted that this was the first baseball game they ever went to – with Edmunds noting “this joint (Citizens Bank Park) crazy.”

When the Phillies’ Kyle Schwarber came to the plate, Edmunds commented, “He looks like he’s ‘about to do some damage.’

Schwarber then promptly hit a home run, prompting the safety to remark, “BOMB! I told you! I told you!’

Swift just laughed at the situation, adding, “He hit it out of the park.”

The pair also showed love for the walk-up song that second baseman Bryson Stott uses, “AOK” by Tai Verdes, which was sung by the entire ballpark.

“That song will probably be stuck in my head all night,” Edmunds admitted

At the end of the video, the pair admitted that they enjoyed their evening, with Edmunds saying, “I don’t know of baseball games having that kind of atmosphere though.” I really need to come back to one of these.”

Fans on social media loved the clip – and their reactions – noting that it was a perfect opportunity to get outside and enjoy a ball game.

‘Just two guys having fun playing a game! I love it!,” one Twitter user wrote.

Another said: ‘More people should attend live baseball games, it’s not the same on TV for those who aren’t baseball people. The park is such a great experience and there are good seats.”

“That’s great that they got those seats for their first game instead of being in a suite,” another user wrote. ‘Getting a great experience up close.’

“I love athletes supporting other athletes!” said another account. ‘They realize how difficult it is to play at an elite level! Cool to get new fans of our game!! I love this!!’

Swift and Edmunds picked a perfect night for their first baseball game, with the hometown Phillies defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks 10-0 to go up 2-0 in the series.

Kyle Schwarber hit not one, but two home runs that night – and Trea Turner added another later in the game.

In all, the Phillies shelled Arizona pitcher Merrill Kelly for four earned runs on three hits in five-and-two-thirds innings.

The NLCS now shifts back to the desert, with Game 3 taking place Thursday afternoon in Phoenix.
