Fans claimed Denmark were ‘robbed’ after defender Joachim Andersen suffered a double VAR nightmare during the 2024 Euros last 16 against Germany.
Andersen thought he had given Denmark the lead, but his goal was disallowed for offside.
Shortly afterwards, Andersen was in for more misery when he was awarded a penalty for an alleged handball.
Kai Havertz took the penalty and managed to find the net.
One user wrote on X that it was “heartbreaking minutes for Joachim Andersen.”

Another user claimed that Denmark had been robbed.
They wrote: ‘Denmark has been robbed.
‘Can anyone give me a reason why it was a penalty?
‘What’s wrong with these stupid referees? They ruin the beautiful game of football. Miserable!
Former Norwegian player Jan Age Fjortoft stated that the penalty should not have been given to Andersen.
Fjortoft wrote: ‘The handball rule is really not good! Andersen really didn’t do that on purpose!!!!’.
Another user added: ‘Andersen’s last five minutes perfectly sums up the life of a Crystal Palace fan.’
Additionally, one user noted that Andersen had been “so unlucky.” They wrote: “From scoring a goal to giving away a penalty. That’s so unlucky Joachim Andersen.”
Another user said the situation with Andersen was ‘brutal’. They wrote: ‘Andersen having a goal disallowed by VAR and then VAR giving Germany a penalty after he touched his arm is BRUTAL.’
