Fans brand Georgia congressman a ‘disgrace’ after his bizarre college football speech on the floor
U.S. Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) is being called a “disgrace” after passionately celebrating the Southeastern Conference football championship for his home state Bulldogs on the House Floor.
Collins, who represents Georgia’s 10th District in Congress, which includes the entire city of Athens, gave a speech in which he lambasted the Bulldogs’ opponent, Texas, while singing the praises of Kirby Smart’s team.
Georgia defeated Texas 22-19 in overtime to win their second SEC championship in three seasons.
‘Sir. Speaker, I rise today to demand that Texas be returned to the Big 12, and to congratulate the 2024 SEC champions, the Georgia Bulldogs, on the ‘Dawgs’ historic victory over the Longhorns in the SEC Championship this past weekend, which, by the way, “It was the second time Georgia beat Texas this season,” Collins said.
“The ‘Dawgs have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that Texas just isn’t ready for SEC ball. What an incredible victory, Mr. Speaker. Not only did the ‘Dawgs absolutely smoke Texas in overtime, but they did it with class, style and a backup quarterback.
“This is the 15th SEC Championship in Georgia history, and the ‘Dawgs aren’t done yet. As we head into the playoffs, don’t let your foot off the gas pedal. You have a national championship to take back to Athens, and don’t let anyone stop you. Mr. Speaker. Go ‘Dawgs, and I’ll give back.’

College football fans didn’t abandon Collins as he used his platform for his sports fandom.
‘One question: how do you ‘smell’ them during overtime? Hahaha! You didn’t, but still a good win. ROLL TIDE!’ said one college football fan.
“Glad our tax dollars and time are being wasted on this foolishness in the halls of Congress. If only there was something like a summer bill that you could all take and adopt, or something more productive.”
“I don’t know shit about this fight, but I love a congressman who rejoices in a victory.”
“Senator, you are the leadership our country needs during this difficult time.”
‘What a stupid waste of time. No interest in killing a GA citizen when someone is making @mtgreenee SWATs, but you’re joking about college football? You’re a disgrace.’

Georgia’s win over Texas earned it an automatic berth in the College Football Playoff and a first-round bye in the 12-team tournament.
The Bulldogs will play the winner of Notre Dame and Indiana on New Year’s Day in the Sugar Bowl as a CFP quarterfinal.
Georgia is now three wins away from its third league title in the past four seasons. And if he does, Collins will surely be back on the floor with another speech to commemorate a title.
