Fans brand Brad Fittler worst coach in NSW Origin history after Blues’ demolition by Queensland
Fans call Brad Fittler the worst coach in NSW Origin history after making shocking mistakes in Queensland’s demolition of Blues
New South Wales fans have put the boot in coach Brad Fittler after the Blues were thrashed by Queensland in Game II of the State of Origin series at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night.
Fittler took his injury-plagued side to Brisbane to salvage this year’s Origin series after losing Game One in Adelaide three weeks ago.
‘Freddy’ said the do-or-die clash would be the biggest test of his storied career as both a coach and player – and things certainly didn’t go to plan.
Queensland won their 24th Origin series and retained the State of Origin shield by beating the Blues 32-6.
Fittler was appointed coach in 2018 and tasked with turning the fortunes of NSW around.

He’s won three series and now lost three series – and many Blues fans feel he should move on now.
His standing has been called into question this series, with his decision to choose Jarome Luai over Dally M winner Nicho Hynes drawing heavy criticism.
And when disaster struck in the opening minutes of the game at Suncorp, with Tom Trbojevic seriously injured, Fittler’s reaction left fans confused.
He opted to put Damien Cook in the centres, despite the Rabbitohs star having little experience playing in the position and possessing the talented Cameron Murray – who played as a half throughout his schoolboy career.
Fans took to social media to accuse Fittler of the embarrassing result for NSW.
“This is the worst demonstration of coaching in Origin History. Honestly, I’m so ashamed. I don’t even want Fittler for game 3,” one Twitter user wrote.
“This is what happens when the coach takes his incumbent out of formmates. The first two out the door must be Fittler and Alexander,’ another replied.
“FITTLER 100% your fault. The panther link does not work! You should have chosen Reynolds!’ said a third.

Fittler’s position as coach is now on the line after Wednesday night
“Tell Freddy Fittler it’s time to go, brother! Just let the team go officially coachless. It couldn’t be worse,’ said another.
Rugby league great Braith Anasta said Fittler’s position before the game depended on the result of Game 2.
“I think we all know, and Freddy and Brandy too [assistant coach Greg Alexander] would also know this, if they lose this match it is very unlikely they will be there next year,” he told NRL360.
