Fans lash out at David Warner as the veteran’s batting woes continued after scoring just ONE run against India, with selectors criticized for dropping Travis Head for an out-of-form star: ‘He’s on borrowed time’

David Warner’s misery continued in India with fans quick to lash out at the veteran after he gave up his wicket by just one run.

The 36-year-old’s stump was nearly sent to Rajasthan after he was knocked down by Mohammed Shami on the opening morning of Australia’s first Test against India in Nagpur, adding to Warner’s misery on the subcontinent.

The Australians fell to a lowly 174-8 in a disastrous start to their trip to India.

Warner averages just 24.25 in India and his poor performances in the country led to some calls for him to be ruled out of the first Test of the four-match series.

However, the selectors chose to give the veteran a chance, and Travis Head, in top form, was forced to make way for Warner.

But that call risks failing and Warner did little to justify his selection after once again losing his wicket to an opponent bowling around the wicket and bowling it to him.

Unsurprisingly, fed up fans took to Twitter to insist that Warner is on “borrowed time”, with the 36-year-old desperate to play in Ashes later this year.

“That was terrible from Warners,” said one fan. ‘Imagine you are the in-form Travis Head and David Warner is chosen to play like that.

‘Probably on borrowed time, too much borrowed, I think.’

Another said: ‘So if Travis Head is being dropped because he can’t play overseas… why the hell is David Warner still getting the benefit of the doubt?’

A third added: ‘Travis Head withdrew for India due to horrible Test record away from home. David Warner:’ next to a GIF of an anxious person.
