Supporters were left stunned after Manchester United’s Andre Onana was seen applying Vaseline to his goalkeeper gloves during his side’s 2-2 draw at home to Liverpool.

It is not the first time that Onana has smeared Vaseline on his gloves, as he did during the match against West Ham in December.

However, doing so can break the glove latex, meaning the gloves won’t last as long as normal.

One user was baffled by Onana’s decision to put Vaseline on his gloves.

They wrote: ‘Why does Onana put Vaseline on his gloves??’.

Meanwhile, another added: ‘WAIT FOR. Why does Onana put Vaseline on his gloves???????? What am I missing?????’.

Additionally, another user wrote, “Why did Onana just put Vaseline on his gloves? That certainly won’t help you retain the ball.’

Moreover, another said: ‘Is there a benefit of Vaseline on goalkeeper gloves, because why did Onana take out a whole tub?’.

Liverpool took the lead through Luis Diaz on Sunday before Bruno Fernandes took advantage of an error to equalize for United.

Kobbie Mainoo then gave the hosts the lead, but Mohamed Salah equalized for Liverpool with a penalty in the 84th minute.

Onana has played in all 31 of United’s Premier League matches so far this season, keeping eight clean sheets while conceding 46 goals.
