Fans are already coming up with wild theories about The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

For some fans of The Legend of Zelda, theorizing and analyzing the world is as much fun as playing the games. So when Nintendo released the first trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, YouTubers and other fans wasted no time in getting to work analyzing the trailer and dissecting every detail.

There’s a lot to dive into this time. Princess Zelda will be the playable hero of the story for the first time and will have a brand new weapon, the Tri Rod. Echoes of wisdom could have connections to previous versions of Hyrule and the series in general has already given people plenty of opportunities to theorize. There are tons of posts on Reddit with observations, and YouTube is full of videos analyzing the trailer. It could all be a lot, so Polygon has rounded up some of the best theories we’ve ever seen The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.

It takes place in the same world as The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

A Reddit post that started a conversation on a Zelda subreddit made a compelling argument that went out into the world Echoes of wisdom could be connected to A link to the past. The post includes a screenshot of the trailer, which shows a panoramic view of Hyrule Echoes of wisdom. In it you can see environments such as a forest in the northwest corner of the map, mountains in the north and Hyrule Castle in the center. The user claims that these locations and layout are similar to those in A link to the pastso it could mean it’s set in the same or a similar version of Hyrule.

The Sheikah will be back in the game

Zeltik, a popular theorist within the Zelda communityhighlighted a moment when the Sheikah appears to be returning Echoes of wisdom in two separate cases. The first shows a clip where a character resembles Impa, Zelda’s Sheikah nurse in other games, such as Ocarina of Time And Oracle of seasons, attacks soldiers in Hyrule Castle. Impa’s appearance wouldn’t be that remarkable considering she’s in so many games, but then there’s another cool thing: the trailer shows a house that appears to be a workshop or a place for research. The room contains glowing orange signs that could be Sheikah symbols, and the character looks a lot like Robbie Breath of the wild And Tears of the kingdom.

There will be two types of Zora in the game

This is a small detail, but a nice one: there have always been different designs for the Zora in different Zelda games. The Zora in the original A link to the past had a colorful, almost dragon-like appearance, while the Zora we see in more recent games Ocarina of Time have a sleeker and silvery fish-like appearance. In another part of Zeltik’s trailer analysis, he shows a clip from the trailer where we can see Zelda standing between both types of Zora. He hypothesized that there might be a conflict between the two and that the princess could play a role in mediating tensions between the two groups.

These are some of the fun theories we’ve found so far, but we’ll update the article as we get more information about the game. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will be released on September 26 for the Nintendo Switch.
