Fans are all saying the same thing about Oregon superstar Dillon Gabriel after wild TV interview
Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel raised eyebrows with an interview before the Rose Bowl on Wednesday.
The No. 1 seed Ducks took on the Ohio State Buckeyes in a rematch of one of the most exciting college football games of the season for the 2025 Rose Bowl at 5:00 PM ET on New Year’s Day.
Oregon’s high-powered offense pulled off a narrow win when the two sides met earlier in the season, but heading into this week’s bowl game, their quarterback turned heads for a much different reason.
The 24-year-old went off on a bizarre tangent during an interview with KOIN News Reporter Brenna Greene on Monday.
When asked what could give the Ducks the competitive advantage, Gabriel started with a straight answer about his team’s situational football and ability to make plays.
However, the interview took a strange turn when he wandered off topic and started talking about domes and the sun.

“We love the rose bowl,” he continued. ‘We like warm weather. I think we should play football more on nice grass instead of artificial grass. And the more sun the better, why do we do this to ourselves? Do fans want to sit in the snow and rain?
“Let’s just make arenas. Let’s make domes. Let’s do grass. Let’s let off more fireworks at games.’
The signal caller’s response sparked a response from college football fans on social media, with many suggesting he was high.
One stunned social media user commented on the clip, asking: ‘This guy must be stoned, right? lol wants domes, grass, weather, fireworks – I think what he’s really saying is he needs a retractable roof?’
“He clearly has a thing for grass,” another claimed alongside a GIF of actor Mark Wahlberg pretending to smoke.
“When the edibles hit,” another joked, while another added, “Yoooooooo he’s into that cali weed and shrooms lmaooo.”

Greene quickly clarified the situation and confirmed that Gabriel was not high.
The signal caller’s comments led many college football fans to suggest he was high
“I’ll only say it once: media day was at eight in the morning and one o’clock. Dillon wasn’t high,” she wrote, quoting her original video.
“He’s already stupid and I’m sure the combined exhaustion of how early it was and the amount of demand for him probably contributed to this quote.
“A little annoyed, something innocent and funny has been co-opted, but that’s the internet for you.”
Gabriel, a sixth-year senior, enters Wednesday night’s Rose Bowl second in FBS in passing yards, trailing only Case Keenum.
