Barron Trump’s football skills have made waves online, with many social media users left baffled by one key detail.
The 18-year-old son of newly elected President Donald Trump may have grown up under unique circumstances, but like any teenager, he has immersed himself in the sport.
An avid soccer fan, Barron played the sport throughout his childhood and reportedly even honed his skills on the youth team of an MLS club.
And a highlight of his on-field skills went viral on YouTube, catching the attention of more than 36,000 viewers.
In the clip, Barron, who stands at a staggering height of 6 feet 9 inches, could be seen comically towering over his opponents.
And it was his height that made viewers all draw the same conclusion: that he is playing the wrong sport.

Many took to the comments section of the two-minute clip to argue that Barron’s towering frame would be better utilized on the basketball court.
“Play basketball 6-foot man,” one user urged, while another added, “Goofball! Play basketball!!!’
“He needs to start playing basketball… he’ll get the footwork from all that football he’s played… and he’s 6ft… GIVE HIM A BASKETBALL,” a third urged passionately.
“Dude played the wrong sport,” a fourth suggested, while another echoed the claim, writing: “He plays the wrong sport. Put him on a basketball court.
‘He has good speed and is athletic. He would do well in basketball,” read one user’s analysis, while another user wrote, “I’m a football fan, but I think with his height he would definitely be a better fit in basketball.”
However, one user wasn’t too impressed with Barron’s football skills before agreeing with another that he would have more to show off on a basketball court.
“I like Barron and he can make a high school football team, but if that’s it, those aren’t great skills. I want to see the hoops,” they said.
Barron reportedly once received advice from Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney, during the retired football star’s brief playing spell for DC United.
Viewers all claimed the NYU student was playing the wrong sport after seeing him
Barron, who was about 12 at the time, had reportedly played for DC’s youth team.
“(Donald) asked me to give his son football lessons,” Rooney previously revealed.
“(Barron) said, ‘Do you want to see my dad?’ He took me to the Oval office and from there his PA texted: ‘Would you like to play a few holes?’
Barron enrolled at NYU’s Stern School of Business, but partying and meeting girls were not his priority. According to a report, football has remained his focus.
TMZ reported that Barron “asked NYU students for their Discord usernames and gamertags to play together online.”
Discord is a social media app used to connect and chat with other video game players.
