Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis vowed never to date her employees in a resurfaced 2020 interview as she now faces a hearing for hiring her lover to work on the Trump interference case.
Willis, who is responsible for bringing the case against former President Donald Trump in his election interference case in Georgia, is accused of having a secret relationship with Nathan Wade, whom she appointed as special prosecutor in the high-profile case.
“I certainly won’t choose to date people who work under me,” Willis told The Patricia Crayton Show while campaigning for district attorney.
“We’re in a place in society where things are happening in people’s relationships. Sometimes there are also relationships outside society.
I don’t think the community is concerned about that. Although there may be a moral rift in that,” she continued.

An attorney representing Michael Roman filed the charges against Willis and Nathan Wade (pictured center) and asked for the charges to be dismissed.
She added: “I think citizens are really concerned if you choose to have inappropriate contact with employees,” she continued.
“I can’t say anything other than it’s distracting, it’s certainly unbecoming of the No. 1 law officer in this state, and it really saddens me,” she said.
Willis added that it would be “very unfortunate if the taxpayers of this community had to pay for any of these lawsuits.”
The Fulton County District Attorney is scheduled to appear before Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee on Feb. 15 on allegations that she had an inappropriate relationship with attorney Nathan Wade.
Atlanta attorney Wade was paid $654,000 to assist in the sweeping investigation into the former president’s efforts to overturn the election, court filings show.
Willis hired Atlanta attorney Nathan Wade as a “special anti-corruption prosecutor” to investigate Trump’s alleged election interference.

Among the documents DailyMail.com reviewed were Wade’s invoices to the district attorney. Shockingly, they include one bill for an “interview with DC/White House” for eight hours on November 18, 2022 and another for eight hours including “conference with White House counsel” on May 23, 2022.
Roman’s legal documents also allege that Willis had an “ongoing, personal relationship” with Wade — citing “sources close to both the special counsel and the district attorney’s office,” but provide no documentary evidence.

Roman claims that the pair dated before Willis hired Wade, and that they traveled together to Napa Valley, Florida, and even on a Caribbean cruise.
The allegation about the bomb relationship caused a storm of news on Monday. But Wade’s White House meetings, as detailed in the 127-page document filed by Roman, have so far been overlooked in the media.
Willis’ spokesperson previously said the district attorney’s office would respond to the allegations through court documents.
The filing refers to a sealed divorce petition for the married special prosecutor, but then proceeds to file the claim based on other information.
It states that “information obtained outside the litigation indicates that the District Attorney and the Special Prosecutor have personally traveled together to places such as Napa Valley, Florida and the Caribbean and that the Special Prosecutor has purchased tickets for both of them to meet with both the Norwegian and Royal Carbibean cruise lines.
“Traveling together to places like Washington, DC or New York City may make sense for work purposes in light of other pending lawsuits, but what work purpose can be served solely by traveling to these traditional vacation destinations?”
“Sources close to both the special counsel and the district attorney have confirmed that Willis and Wade had an ongoing, personal and romantic relationship during the pendency of Wade’s divorce proceedings,” the filing said, without naming the sources or providing other details.
Earlier this week, Willis appeared to defend the allegations, suggesting the criticism of her was racist and sexist.

“You can’t expect black women to be perfect and save the world. We need to be given the opportunity to stumble,” she said.
Without mentioning Wade by name, she appeared to be clearly referring to him in her speech, adding that this “someone” had “impeccable credentials” and years of expertise.
“They’re going to get angry if I call them out on this nonsense,” Willis told the council. “The first thing they say, ‘Oh, she’s going to play the race card.’ But…aren’t they playing the race card when they think I need someone in another jurisdiction in another state to tell me how to do a job I’ve been doing for almost thirty years?”
Willis thanked leaders of the historically black church in Atlanta who “didn’t care what they said about me” and told her that “the invitation was still good” to speak.
“I hope this week I don’t look like what I went through,” she said.
She repeatedly called herself “imperfect” and “flawed,” noting that the only perfect person was Jesus.
“What he brought you today is his deeply flawed, stubborn, and imperfect servant,” she said.
Willis said her father, who she said met and spent time with Dr. Martin Luther King, told her he saw the civil rights leader in low moments, sad because people were cruel and unsupportive. Her father told her that King “was not a perfect man, but a great man, willing to answer God’s call.”
