Fani Willis is accused of lying about when she began ‘romantic relationship’ with Trump special prosecutor Nathan Wade in bombshell court filing
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is accused of lying about the timeline of her “romantic” relationship with the special prosecutor she appointed in Donald Trump’s Georgia election interference case.
Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade previously stated that he and Willis began a “personal relationship” in 2022.
Willis also submitted in a legal filing last week that “any personal relationship between members of the prosecution team does not amount to a disqualifying conflict of interest or otherwise harm a criminal suspect.”
Now, Trump co-defendant Michael Roman’s legal team has written to Judge Scott McAfee that ‘Mr. Roman believes that the Special Counsel’s statement in his affidavit that the relationship did not begin until 2022 is patently false.”
Lawyers for Roman say Wade’s former divorce attorney Terrence Bradley will “refute” the claim that Wade and Willis “did not have a personal, romantic relationship before Willis appointed Wade as special prosecutor.”

The Fulton County district attorney faces a hearing on whether the relationship poses a conflict
“Bradley has non-privileged, personal knowledge that the romantic relationship between Wade and Willis began prior to Willis being sworn in as District Attorney for Fulton County, Georgia in January 2021,” the filing, filed Friday, said.
“Thus, Bradley can confirm that Willis entered into a contract with Wade after Wade and Willis began a romantic relationship, refuting Wade’s claim in his affidavit that they did not begin dating until 2022.”
The divorce attorney “obtained this information in his personal capacity as Wade’s friend prior to Wade’s decision to file for divorce,” according to Roman’s team’s documents.
Roman’s attorneys also claimed that Bradley will “corroborate” information about Willis and Wade “regularly” staying together at different homes.
It is the latest twist ahead of next week’s hearing on whether Willis and Wade should be removed from the case in which both Roman and Trump, who faces 13 charges, have pleaded not guilty.
Willis was accused in a stunning lawsuit of having an affair with Nathan Wade, who was paid more than $600,000 as a special prosecutor in support of her office.
Former President Trump pointed out the allegations on Tuesday, saying it meant Georgia’s prosecutor was “completely compromised” and that the case against him “must be dismissed.”
Willis and Wade have yet to comment publicly or respond to the complaint in court documents.

An attorney representing Michael Roman made the allegations in a filing and asked for the charges to be dismissed
“She was out of her mind,” Trump fumed about Willis, who has been one of his regular targets during her grand jury investigation and since his arrest last summer. ‘It now appears that the case has been completely compromised. In fact, they say she has far more criminal liability than any of the people she looks at,” he claimed.
“So I think if you look at what happened, they pay a lawyer with no experience $700,000, who is your lover or friend, and then they go on trips together and on vacations, very expensive vacations together.
“And the reason they paid him that much was because he was after me,” he continued.
Willis admitted the stunning affair with special prosecutor Nathan Wade in her 176-page filing last Friday and said there was no conflict.
But between passages of dry legal arguments, she included a color photo of the lawyer who blew the whistle on her affair, and even provided details about luxury cruise trips and more than $600,000 in payments Wade received for his work with Willis.
She also dug up the lawyer’s previous statements about Wade — which were very complimentary.
Former President Donald Trump has frequently attacked Willis, calling his indictment in Georgia part of a “witch hunt” against him
Fulton County DA Fani Willis’ lawsuit on Friday centers on attorney Ashleigh Merchant, whose own filing revealed a “personal” relationship Willis admitted to having with a special prosecutor on her team
Merchant exposed Willis’s affair with special prosecutor Nathan Wade in her own file
The lawyer in question, Ashleigh Merchant, even campaigned for Wade at the Greek Festival in her hometown of Marietta when he ran for a judicial post in 2016, Willis’ files show.
It says that “defendant Roman’s counsel is obviously well acquainted with Special Counsel Wade’s experience and qualifications, regardless of any contrary assertions made in Roman’s motion.”
“During a 2016 judicial campaign, Defendant Roman’s counsel, Ashleigh Merchant, was an enthusiastic supporter of Wade’s candidacy and described him in glowing terms,” the newspaper said, quoting from her Facebook posts at the time.
Merchant is then quoted praising Wade, saying, “Nathan is ethical…Experience matters.” It says he ‘has practiced in every area of law and lists some of his awards – which are also included in the file.
The filing states that Merchant “was both a vocal and visual presence in support of Wade’s campaign.”
