Fan favorite KFC menu item is getting the chain’s famous ‘original recipe’ due to popular demand

KFC is giving its chicken tenders a makeover.

The fast food chain has offered them for years, but they are made according to the chain’s “extra crispy” recipe, rather than the “original recipe” the chain uses for its chicken-on-the-bone products.

Customers flooded KFC with requests to carry out tenders in this way.

Bosses have listened – and from October 14, the tenders will be prepared with the chain’s secret blend of 11 herbs and spices.

They are also cooked slightly differently. They are pressure fried, just like classic fried chicken, instead of normally fried in oil.

KFC’s chicken tenders switch from Extra Crispy recipe to the original recipe

KFC is also introducing a new dipping sauce that matches the new tenders.

The new Comeback sauce is described by the chain as a spicy, peppery addition to the menu item.

Fans celebrated online the news of the original recipe’s return.

“Their OC is so much better than crunchy munch extra crunchy,” one customer wrote on Reddit.

‘That fresh delight of an original recipe, wrapped in chicken that is nice and juicy, I would buy thirty!!!!!’ another wrote.

“The chicken sandwich must also be an original recipe,” a third added.

Moving tenders to the original recipe was first tested last April in select Ohio restaurants.

They were then rolled out at locations in Nashville and West Palm Beach over the summer.

KFC has worked hard to please its fans, while fast-food chains and casual dining chains fight to keep inflation-weary customers happy.

Earlier this summer, KFC entered the value war with its $5 meal deal after seeing sales decline earlier this year.

McDonald’s, Burger King and Wendy’s all have their own $5 meal deals, with a choice of a burger, four chicken nuggets, fries and a drink.

Olive Garden, like KFC, has opted to bring back fan-favorite menu items after seeing a significant drop in sales this year.

The Italian chain, with 900 branches, will soon again offer Steak Gorgonzola Alfredo and Stuffed Chicken Marsala.
