Fan favorite golfer Rickie Fowler shoots brutal 10-OVER as he finishes his Memorial Tournament in dead last – just months after Netflix documented his return to form

Rickie Fowler shot a brutal 10-over to finish last at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday on Friday.

The fan favorite’s quest to emerge from his slump was halted as he struggled through the first two rounds at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio.

The Memorial Tournament is one of three signature 36-hole events. Like Tiger Woods’ Genesis Invitational and the Arnold Palmer Invitational, this week’s field is whittled down to the low 50s with the other players tied within ten strokes of the lead after the first two rounds.

Fowler shot 76-82 this week, which puts him outside the cut line. The line was expected to fall to 4 or 5 over par at the end of his second round.

His unfortunate finish at the tournament comes months after his supposed road to redemption was featured in Netflix’s “Full Swing” docuseries in March.

After ending a four-year winless drought last year, Fowler is now 108th in the standings

Season 2, Episode 2 – titled “The Game Has Changed” – provided a glimpse into the psychological and human sides of Fowler’s journey by following his daily life with his wife Allison.

Still, Fowler was 8 over par through his first seven holes on Friday, making double bogeys on the par-4 second hole. He then finished on the two par 5s of the front nine with holes 5 and 7.

He added a bogey at No. 10 after surrendering 9-over-45. Four straight pars came before back-to-back birdies on holes 15 and 16 preceded bogeys on his final two holes.

Fowler wasn’t the only big name to struggle this week, as Justin Rose also succumbed to the challenges of the Muirfield Village course. Rose shot 80-73, putting him outside the cut along with Fowler.

After ending a four-year winless drought at last year’s Rocket Mortgage Classic, Fowler sits 108th in the FedExCup standings with just one top 25 finish in 2024.
