Famous New Orleans comedian dies of ‘sudden heart-related issue’
A famous New Orleans comedian has died suddenly of a heart problem.
Christian comedian Mutzie Daniel Forestier passed away last weekend after a sudden medical emergency, his son posted on Mutzie’s Facebook page.
“We are devastated but know he is at peace now,” the message read.
Mutzie worked for six years as a comedian on Carnival Cruise Line ships and was twice named New Orleans Entertainer of the Year, FOX 8 Live Reports.
He was also recently named Christian Comedian of the Year and was set to begin a national tour on Sunday.

But family members say Mutzie never feared death.
“As many of you know, Mutzie was a deeply spiritual man, always rooted in his faith,” said his son Newman. wrote in an online fundraiser for his funeral expenses.
‘He often spoke with peace about death, fully prepared and ready to meet Jesus.’
Newman went on to say that his father always carried his faith with him.
“Living with my father, I saw firsthand how he nurtured his relationship with God,” Newman wrote.
‘Almost every night he fell asleep listening to sermons and spent his last moments talking to God.
“His faith was unwavering and he found comfort in his connection with Jesus.”
He was also recently named Christian Comedian of the Year and was set to begin a national tour on Sunday.
Mutzie was also known for his charity work, Newman said.
“My father was a true giver, a man whose generosity knew no bounds,” he wrote, noting that while performing on Carnival’s cruise ships, his father started a program “to give back to the people of Progreso, Mexico.
“We used his CD money to buy pizzas and give them to school children, creating moments of joy that were truly special,” Newman explained. “Every guest who joined us could also feel the joy of giving, and it was truly an amazing experience every time.”
When Mutzie wasn’t performing on cruises, Newman donated all of his CD and DVD sales to people in need, including giving Christmas gifts to children, helping the homeless and supporting shelters.
“He loved to make people happy and show them how Jesus calls us to live — to love one another,” the grieving son wrote. “He lived by the verse, ‘Whoever does it to the least of these does it to me.’”

They noted that Mutzie was a very charitable man, who started a program to give back to the people of Progreso, Mexico, while working as a comedian on Carnival’s cruise ships
But Mutzie was never really rich, Newman said.
“Our father went through life with very little, not because he had to, but because he chose to give everything he had to others,” he explained.
“He always said, ‘I have money for my bills and food, that’s all I need.’”
Mutzie had no life insurance and knew he would not be able to leave much for his children. They are now raising money to ensure their father’s funeral wishes are fulfilled.
Any additional funds Newman and his sister Rachel receive will be donated to continue Mutzie’s tradition of blessing children with Christmas gifts this season.
As of Sunday evening, the online fundraiser for children had raised more than $9,000 in donations.
