Family that won $3million on Melbourne Cup bet spend windfall on act that will make millions of Aussies jealous

A Victorian family who won more than $3 million betting on the Melbourne Cup have revealed they used some of the winnings to pay off their mortgage.
It’s understood the family initially thought their bet would return just $780,000, but were stunned to learn the size of the full dividend.
On Tuesday, Ladbrokes revealed the family had sensationally picked the first four winners of the Melbourne Cup.
They remarkably backed Knight’s Choice to finish first, Warp Speed second, Okita Soushi third and Zardozi fourth to clinch the massive prize pool.
Ladbrokes spokesman Tom Hackett said the ‘very humble’ family said the win had ‘certainly changed their lives’.
The money was deposited into their account within an hour of the race and they used some of the proceeds to pay off their house, they said. Channel seven.
“The woman spent the night folding laundry and making children’s lunches,” Hackett revealed.
‘She was very adamant that life go on as usual.’
According to Ladbrokes pre-race odds, Knight’s Choice had a 1.23 percent chance of winning, with Warp Speed priced at $26, Okita Souchi at $18 and Zardozi backed to win at $14.
Ladbrokes posted a betting slip on Twitter showing the bet that netted the Victorian family $3.2 million after they spent $100.

‘They boxed Knight’s Choice, Warp Speed, Okita Soushi and Zardozi and turned their $100 investment into $3.2 million, which is already in their Ladbrokes account.
‘The client initially thought he had won $780,000, so you can imagine their surprise when the full dividend was announced.
‘It’s a life-changing result and shows that anything can happen in the Melbourne Cup!’
The gambler’s bet sees him claim a payout of 416.66 percent.
Elsewhere, another lucky gambler won big after another first four bet was placed on a $24 stake.
That forced bookkeepers TAB to pay out a $728,000 dividend, while the betting company also handed one gambler $81,000 after the person placed a sensational $1000 bet on Knight’s Choice.
One person also won a whopping $28,491.70 from a $6 mystery trifecta – a bet where a gambler’s horses are randomly selected by the accounting firm’s systems.

It was also a dream day for Dolan and Knight’s Choice, with the jockey claiming he felt like he was dreaming after the race.
“Pinch me, I’m dreaming… I can’t believe it,” he told Nine News after the race.
‘I think I’ll continue singing for the rest of my life after that. Who cares.’
