Family tragedy past of Oscar Pistorius’s new girlfriend – who is the spitting image of the one he shot dead: Rita Greyling’s brother suffered agony of friend ‘being murdered’ during his stag do

Oscar Pistorius and his new girlfriend are said to have bonded over a tragedy in their lives, while a devastating drowning at her brother’s bachelor party remains mysterious.

Pistorius, 38, is said to have found new love just months after being paroled from prison after serving nine years for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp at his home in South Africa in 2013.

Sources close to the former athlete say he has entered into a romantic relationship with Rita Greyling, 33, a business management consultant from Wakkerstroom in Mpumulanga.

New love Rita’s family also made headlines when her brother Ghini Greyling was involved in a fatal incident at Henbase Lodge, Morgenzon in late 2022.

According to local reports, Willem Kruger was attending Ghini’s bachelor party in November 2022 when he disappeared and was found dead nine days later.

The 29-year-old farmer, who was to be a groomsman at Ghini’s wedding, was found by police in his white Toyota truck submerged in the Vaal River next to the lodge.

In December 2023, police said their investigation had shifted from an accidental drowning to a murder investigation.

Investigators are said to be puzzled by several parts of the case, including where the keys were recovered and the damage to the truck after the time it was allegedly submerged. George Herald reports.

The report adds that the search was suspended the following weekend to accommodate a wedding at the lodge, with the truck subsequently found in the same location divers had already searched for.

The investigation into the death continues and many questions remain unanswered.

Friends said the tragedies surrounding the Pistorius and Greyling families brought them together and their reported romance marks a new start for both.

Rita has a successful career as a business management consultant and Pistorius tries to rebuild his life after being released into the care of his wealthy uncle.

A source close to Pistorius said: ‘He is trying to rebuild his life quietly, avoiding bars, restaurants and the general public and flying under the radar.

‘He is slowly trying to reintegrate into society, but that is done through families that his family has had a close relationship with for decades, and that is going slowly.

“The word that has been on the street for three months now is that he is dating again,” she said.

The double amputee dubbed ‘Blade Runner’ because of the prosthetics he used to compete in the Olympic and Paralympic Games murdered Reeva in his bathroom.

He still insists he accidentally killed the 29-year-old law graduate and model and has now found a new partner who looks uncannily like his ex.

When Reeva’s mother June heard the news about Pistorius’ new girlfriend, she warned the 33-year-old that her new boyfriend “still has an anger problem.”

Speak with The sunsaid the 78-year-old: ‘I don’t understand how she doesn’t see a red flag about him because he hasn’t lost his temper.

‘He had to manage his anger when he was in prison, and at one point I stopped him from coming out because I was annoyed that he wasn’t getting treatment.’

Pistorius claimed he woke up in the early hours to think a burglar was breaking in, without his girlfriend Reeva in the toilet.

He fired repeatedly through the door, killing her instantly with special ‘dum dum’ bullets, but Reeva’s family has always maintained it was intentional.

The horrific shooting on Valentine’s Day 2013 shocked the world and led to him being jailed for manslaughter, which was later upgraded to murder.

Pistorius found himself in the middle of a media storm when he was released on parole on January 5, 2024, and has fallen in love again since returning to the normal world.

Sources close to the couple have confirmed to Netwerk24 that Pistorius and Greyling are in a romantic relationship, although details are being kept strictly private.

June, who founded the Reeva Steenkamp Foundation Against The Abuse of Women and Children, said it was “painful” to see her daughter’s killer in a relationship again, adding that she was “worried” for her.

Pistorius now lives in a cottage in the grounds of his multimillionaire uncle Arnold’s gated mansion and volunteers at a nearby Dutch Reformed church.

His sentence ends in 2029 and, while on parole, he is subject to checks by the Department of Corrections at any time of the day to monitor his residence test for alcohol and drugs.

He is not allowed to leave the immediate area without informing the local police and is not allowed to take a firearm or make any contact with Reeva Steenkamp’s mother or sister.

Pistorius is said to be struggling to find work with friends saying employers view him as ‘toxic’, so volunteers at the church are used by his family to clean and sweep.
