The aunt of a 16-year-old allegedly stabbed by a 17-year-old schoolmate has shared her heartbreak.

The victim, Trey Johnston Piggott, was discovered shortly after 5.30pm on Sunday on Pacific Street in Corindi Beach on the north coast of NSW, with stab wounds to his thigh.

He was rushed to hospital by ambulance, but unfortunately he died not long after arriving.

Trey’s aunt Billie-jo Piggott expressed her heartfelt emotion in a post following the overwhelming response to a GoFundMe campaign, which raised $26,798 for his funeral and to support his mother Rikki Lea.

“On behalf of my entire family, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has reached out, donated, reshared, and expressed their condolences.” she shared on Facebook.

“We as a family can’t thank everyone enough for all the support in our community.”

“In memory of Trey and Support to his mother Rikki-Lea, we all wear a shade of pink.

“We would like everyone to come together for this beautiful boy and know that he was so loved by everyone.”

Trey, who was a student at Woolgoolga High School, will be buried Tuesday at Hogbin Drive Crematorium.

Coffs Clarence Police Commander said the incident would have a ‘ripple effect’ on the close-knit community of Corindi Beach

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murdering Trey, assault leading to death and possession of illegal drugs.

Daily Mail Australia understands that both men knew each other and attended nearby Woolgoolga High School.

“It was two young guys who both went to Woolgoolga,” revealed a local who asked not to be named.

“The whole community is shocked by this incident – it’s usually a quiet place to live.”

At a press conference Monday afternoon, Acting Superintendent Matthew French said that despite an extensive search, officers have not yet recovered the alleged weapon, which police believe is a knife.

He said the boy suffered an injury to the upper leg and there was “considerable loss of blood.”

An eyewitness told The Daily Telegraph that he heard a ‘loud bang’ before going outside to find a boy lying in the road outside his home aged 12.

“The bang was a car door and it was someone who must have stopped to help,” he said.

“There were a lot of people trying to help and the little guy just lay there moaning.”

“A lot of young people cross that block because it’s a shortcut to some hiking trails and they can go that way to get to the houses on the other side,” he said.
