An iconic Sydney mansion immortalized as Hollywood’s ‘House of Horrors’ is set to go under the hammer with a staggering price tag of $12 million to $13 million.
Located in leafy Wahrunga, 20 kilometers from the CBD, the sprawling nine-bedroom, six-bathroom old house was featured in the children’s film Goosebumps When Ghouls Go Bad, starring Christopher Lloyd of Back to the Future franchise fame.
Known as Hazeldean, the spectacular estate was built in 1893 as a 35-room boarding house and was used as a holiday and honeymoon destination for the city’s well-to-do population.
The property was converted into a family home and carefully remodeled after being bought by businessmen John and Stella Dennis in 1997, reports The North Shore Times.
Heritage experts were brought in to repair the damage after years of neglect and restore the palace to its former glory.

Known as Hazeldean, the spectacular estate was built in 1893 as a 35-room boarding house and was used as a holiday and honeymoon destination for the city’s well-to-do population.
A stunning example of classic Old World luxury, the home retains beautifully maintained period details such as original embossed wall paper imported from Belgium, decorative ceilings and stone, marble and wood finishes.
Features include a pool, tennis court, entertainment deck and wine cellar.
There are also two independent one-room apartments, which follow separate wings of the house.
Meanwhile, the kitchen features Carrara marble and an 18th-century butcher block.

The well-known home in the prestigious north coast postcode of Hazeldean was designed by Varney Parkes, son of Sir Henry Parkes, the famous colonial politician.
A house won the 2002 Ku-ring-gai Heritage Restoration Award.
