Meta problem! Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger ALL suffer from outages
Nearly all of Facebook owner Meta’s social media sites and apps experienced reports of outages today, with Instagram users in New York and Los Angeles being the worst affected.
According to DownDetector, a website that monitors such outages, reports of issues with the platform first surfaced at approximately 6:30 PM GMT (2:30 PM ET).
All told, more than 10,000 reports of outages have been received from users across the mainland United States.
Users mostly said they couldn’t send messages, but others reported they couldn’t receive them. Some users even stated that they could not access the apps at all.

Facebook’s parent company, Meta, has not revealed a root cause for the problem, but the problem appears to be improving slightly for Facebook and WhatsApp.
A heat map of user complaints in the past hour, compiled by down detector, showed clusters of reported Instagram outages, particularly across New York; Los Angeles; and oddly enough Wichita, Kansas.
Today’s Meta outages come four months after Facebook Messenger had similar outages last February.
