Of those who reported problems, 90 percent said it was the website, while seven percent said they had problems loading.
The remaining three percent said the problem was related to their Facebook profile.
Down Detector data shows that more than 8,000 problems have been registered worldwide.
Again, the vast majority of complaints are about the website.
While Meta is yet to comment on the outage, several users have taken to rival site X (formerly Twitter) to express their frustrations.
One user tweeted: ‘Is Facebook offline?
‘I can’t access FB on my computer. Hey guys, solve the problem.”

Another added: ‘Facebook isn’t working and I’m going straight to Twitter or X to make sure it’s not me.
“Twitter is always there to confirm that I’m not alone or crazy.”
And someone joked: ‘Well I just wanted to check my @facebook notifications and stuff but #FacebookDown.’
