The Nottinghamshire FA is investigating a claim that a Sunday League player “inserted a finger or fingers” into an opponent’s anus during a match, according to reports.

The alleged incident is said to have taken place in early January.

The disciplinary team’s message, which has been published by live nottinghamshiresays: ‘We have been informed that during a match between [home team] Y [away team]a player allegedly inserted his finger(s) into the anus of an opposing player.’

The FA have since confirmed they are investigating the report, but police say they are not aware of any information.

Witnesses have been asked to complete their statements by January 23.

Sexual assault on the pitch is in breach of FA Rule E3, misconduct and penalties could go further.
