F1 world champion Jacques Villeneuve continues relentless tirade against Daniel Ricciardo, but claims the Aussie is the one being childish

Jacques Villeneuve has launched a new tirade against Daniel Ricciardo after his criticism of the Australian sparked a war of words between the two more than a week ago.

Former F1 champion Villeneuve questioned whether Ricciardo deserved a spot on the grid last weekend, declaring his image ultimately saved his career in a savage live television tirade ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix.

After his best qualifying performance of the F1 season and taking fifth place on the grid, Ricciardo fired back at Villeneuve.

‘I heard he was talking nonsense. But he always does that,” Ricciardo told the media.

‘I think he hit his head a few too many times. So I don’t know if he plays hockey or what.”

Villeneuve later fired back at the Honey Badger, saying his comments were too personal and that he should be more responsible.

The Canadian has again spoken out about the Australian and emphasizes that ‘the truth hurts’.

‘In the end the results are not there. He was really good at Red Bull and since he left them it has been very difficult and his return has not been flamboyant,” Villeneuve told CryptoSportsBetting.

“Obviously I got under his skin because it made him go faster and even Christian Horner thought it gave him a boost and maybe he needed that. In any case, he got a lot of media attention from it.

‘It’s completely unprofessional and has nothing to do with the business, and it can be personally offensive, which is astonishing.

‘I can’t imagine Daniel saying that to other media, so that’s strange. If he says that someone hit his head while playing ice hockey, how constructive and how professional is that?

‘It’s very childish and people like Daniel are role models and think this is the right thing to do.

‘You have to be careful with that. I thought it was very strange when someone says that I don’t care what people say.

‘You have to have a tough skin, in F1 you get criticism and you have to accept it. Don’t say anything childish and insulting.

‘I have no idea why Daniel Ricciardo is so protected, but he has a huge aura around him. Good for him, but imagine if he could back that up with results?

“He’s not meeting expectations and he’s not consistent, so he knows he’s not up to speed and he hasn’t achieved good enough results. It’s that simple.

“There’s nothing wrong with saying that. Saying it may hurt, but you’re in F1, just take it and move on. The truth hurts.’
