F1 suffers ANOTHER pit-lane near-miss as Lando Norris avoid collision
F1 suffers ANOTHER near miss in the pit lane, with McLaren star Lando Norris narrowly missing a pedestrian in Miami…just a week after Esteban Ocon had people blocking the track in Baku before the race was over
- An investigation is underway after Lando Norris swerved to avoid a pedestrian
- It is the second time in as many weeks that F1 has eliminated people during the race
- Norris pitted on the fifth lap and was able to quickly avoid the person
Formula 1 narrowly avoided a collision with a pedestrian in Miami for the second time in consecutive weeks on Sunday.
The FIA is investigating the incident, which occurred on lap five of 57, when a person – believed to be a local marshal – walked in front of Lando Norris’ McLaren as the Briton was pitting in his McLaren.
Footage of the near miss was uploaded to Sky Sports’ F1 website but has since been removed.
An FIA spokesperson said: “We are aware of the incident and are investigating with local organisers.”
The scare came a week after Alpine’s Esteban Ocon slammed on the brakes to avoid running over dozens of people crossing at the pit lane entrance to prepare for post-race festivities at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku.

The McLaren star’s reactions as he came to pit on lap 5 in Miami prevented a dangerous collision
That episode was described by Ocon as a potential ‘disaster’, as the group tried to get to safety when he came in for a tire change on the last lap.
It was investigated by the FIA, who amended their regulations ahead of the Miami race.
She banned “mechanics from moving from their garages to parc ferme” and “other staff or VIPs from entering the pit lane until the last car has taken the checkered flag.”
The FIA warned that “any offense will result in passes being removed from the team(s) in question at later events, and possible reporting by the offending team(s) to the stewards.”
